@steter they were really hoping that storm was moving in. Now they are performing this charade. One person, one angle grinder and this thing would be over in 15 minutes
@colinburgess IMHO unless you already have the scanning equipment and the experience and the time, it is MUCH better paying someone else to do it. Especially the amount of time it takes to set it up and then scan all that material is something I dramatically underestimated. Some folks make it their hobby, nothing wrong with that. In SoCal I ended up using https://dvdyourmemories.com/ in multiple cases and have been very happy. Added bonus? If you run into some new material (eg your setup is for 35mm but now you find some 110mm negatives), you already have a provider that most likely can handle anything you can throw at em. At a price, of course
@skinnylatte geez. Well. She'll lose her job but not sure anything else will change. Hopefully folks realize that with ubiquitous cameras everywhere, you really don't get away with that shit anymore. One can hope
@skinnylatte i mean it develops and changes over time like every other cuisine, so why not? Not sure id be a fan of this specific addition, but I guess don't knock it until you tried it
@skinnylatte@jbaggs even Germany has that. :) not quite 'cheese in a tube' but we have 'Scheibletten', some processed cheese of indistinguishable origin ...
@sand@peteriskrisjanis@RickiTarr sad but true. It's all part of the game. You want to play? Follow the traditions. You write up your cover letter with AI, someone else on the receiving end summarizes it with AI. The circle of life ;)
@skinnylatte if you've played the first one, how does it compare? I've heard good things about the second, but currently playing the first, I'm not blown away and don't know whether getting the new one is worth it
Thanks $cybersecurityvendor for sending the info about a giveaway to me and 833 other folks. How do I know 833? Well thankfully you put everyone into the To field. May the reply-to-all war of 2025 begin!
