In Ottawa I once destroyed my oven by burning all elements for too long, boiling maple syrup.

The glass top’s glue melted from the heat.

This led us to replace the stove...

Which led to a kitchen reno…

Which led to a house reno…

    Most expensive maple syrup ever!

@skinnylatte can we get you on an episode of hot ones, and you can yawn at the pitiful sauces he tests you with. As the main event though you pull out some really spicy stuff and watch him melt into a puddle of goo, like that nazi in raiders of the lost ark

Weekend project complete! The garage never felt so spacious!
A bunch of old kids sports equipment taken to goodwill too, and a lot of old stuff recycled. Satisfying!

I’ve decided that @skinnylatte is actual Doctor Who, and she uses the Tardis to be able to go back in time and try multiple restaurants per day.

@skinnylatte wow. He has a great voice, although I had no idea what he was singing about.

My mind was reeling about these guys singing in Mandarin so I googled Rwanda China and got this link, anyway it’s connected?

Do Rwandan youth feel an affinity to China?

      China–Rwanda relations
China–Rwanda relations refer to the foreign relations between China and Rwanda. China and Rwanda established diplomatic relations on November 12, 1971. China has an embassy in Kigali, while Rwanda has an embassy in Beijing. Economic relations Following the Rwandan genocide, China provided Rwanda with $20 million in financial aid, $10 million worth of humanitarian relief, and dispatched medical teams to assist in local relief efforts in Rwanda. China subsequently expanded its support to Rwanda under the auspices of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. From 2000 to 2011, there were approximately 56 Chinese official development finance projects identified in Rwanda through various media reports. These projects range from a US$160 million debt cancellation in 2007, to financing the construction and operationalization of the cement factory (CIMERWA) at Bugarama in 2009, and an interest-free, 219 million RMB loan for the rehabilitation of the Kigali road network in 2009. As China began a new town construction boom around 2010, the Chinese government and state-owned enterprises began developing new towns...

Hey film nerds, I recently found a box of probably 100 rolls of 35mm color film prints and negatives.

I want to digitize them, and I’m thinking I might get the best results with a negative scanner.

Any experience out there I can lean on? Am I best paying for a professional? I don’t need the absolute highest quality but I’d love to preserve these relics

Edit: sounds like for this large amount it may well be worth it to investigate a film shop. Especially if I want decent scans.

@marcotietz looks like they have a South Bay location, and their prices are lower than many I've seen. I might check them out, they mention additional discounts for more than 500 negatives

Dang! The clams are growing unchecked and are sucking the calcium out of the river water, reducing the ability of treatment stations to remove arsenic

@skinnylatte that’s funny because it seems like brunch is something that we often wait in line for! I guess because it’s considered a family outing?

Still drives me crazy though 😂

@skinnylatte it always amazes me that people will line up for hours for food. As you say it’s worth it for you, I just personally can’t imagine it. I’m freaked out by crowds which might explain it, I wish I wasn’t.

I see this at the Westfield Valley Fair in San Jose, there’s a few restaurants there that always have massive lines, both being noodle shops if I recall.
