Hey everyone. I am not getting into the business of looking at reports and commenting about their specific details — that is a losing situation for everyone involved — especially me.

However — all reports opened on your instance should go to your home mods. There is an optional checkbox to also send to the offending persons mod team as well. As a reminder I personally have 0 moderation power on Hachyderm.

Somebody just drew my attention to another hacker news article about us.

Interesting to see the comments ask the same questions over and over again. Almost as if there was some trend that could be observed about the types of people frequenting the site who all for some reason believe they are the smartest person in the room.

So, let's see if #hachyderm or the further #Federation can give me a hand with some #kubernetes (#k8s).
I've got 2 containers running on the same pod. One of them (nginx) run as root and the other (app) doesn't. I'm trying to have a shared volume between the 2 using an emptyDir, but when I try to copy files on initContainer using the non-root img, I get an error telling me "Operation not permitted" when trying to chgrp the volume. Can I change the ownership of the volume? securityContext? #help

I’m mostly just happy we have a spot to hang out that isn’t a corporate “social” channel and isn’t a product within itself.

Feels nice just to be able to have psychological safety and be weird without judgement. Definitely healthier for me.

Hey Hachyderm admins and Hachyderm community! I have another good neighbour question: I have a lot of followers who are underrepresented folks in tech. I often do pre-hire announcements on my social media, to let them know about opportunities on my team or other teams that have a good, inclusive environment.

Are those OK here? OK with a CW like "jobs?" OK with the "followers only?" label? Not OK?

I have some coming up, and don't want to put them on the birdsite.

Sometimes I just scroll through the #Hachyderm community tab just to see the types of people on the server. Y’all we are the most nerdy fucking cat people with dogs and chainsaws and fucking whiskey hackers. So many queer SREs and bicycle mountain bros and people paddle boarding with mustache wax and I love every one of us.

I stop and pause and remind myself everyone has a story.

Maybe another way of framing it:

Colonialism, capitalism, and white supremacy is just collective trauma that some of us have accepted and some of us have not. Our global mindshare hasn't matured to conviction yet.

I still can't believe marginalized communities are still this far "under the spell" of colonialism and white supremacy.

One of the things I just can't understand is how certain people from marginalized communities end up in the Republican party.

Don't get me wrong I don't think the Democrats are all that better, but at least understandable from my perspective.

I am just a transgender/queer person with an interest in sustainability and public land. So maybe I am biased?

There is also some accessibility updates and now we have the ability to control the visibility of our posts.
