I see a lot of people cheering for the "you have to verify your age to look at porn" bill as some victory, and I can almost get why it seems so well-intended on the surface.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is a lot can go wrong when you let a third party handle your PII (necessary to make sure that you're "of age" for such things) but also it sets a very WEF-y and very dangerous precedent — it sets a step for the online ID thing, and nope, that's not going to fly at all.

@sickburnbro Thinking of the time when my buddy's dad had introduced to his grandpa to Google Assistant for the first time, "you can ask it anything." He thought for a moment and asked, "What language did Jesus speak to Pontius Pilate?" before a roughly "idk man?" answer returned, and my mom responded, "You have to ask it something people know."
