@BUF0 Nice! I hope the UART connector will make it to the final product, in one form or another 😉
No audio jack however? Or is it just absent from the dev board but planned for the phone?

@bart @BUF0 @linmob Agreed, a small overlay is way easier to maintain than forking/rebuilding the world (see PureOS)
@samueldr @linmob @Liberux This is the module used in the PinePhone Pro, and I don't think I saw any wifi-related complaint for this device.
To me that's a plus, as we know the mainline driver "just works" :)
> Though I suspect the actual chipset in use differs between CYW43455 and AP6256...
IIRC that's the same exact chipset, just a different module vendor (at least they both work with the same "compatible" string and FW files)
@bart @BUF0 @linmob IMHO it depends on the diff with the upstream distro, but for rolling out a product it makes sense as vendors usually need a fair share of customizations, at least in the early days.
The trap here is the risk of ending up in the "we have our stuff working, no need to bother with upstreaming" zone, so I'm just hoping it won't happen 🤞
(note: ofc I'd prefer getting Mobian contributions rather than another mobile-focused Debian derivative 😉)
@julianfairfax @libreoffice @gnome @flxzt do you want to "digitally" sign it using a certificate (as in, crypto signature) or add your "handwritten" signature? For the latter, I scanned my own signature on white paper, extracted it in png (w/ transparent background), I can then paste it using e.g. gimp.
@mobian Actually I just dealt with bringing up #Mobian, the real hard work is all @z3ntu's 😉️
Linux-first, Coreboot, EDK II... Looks like we'll soon have another lovely #LinuxMobile tablet and a perfect target for @mobian !
I would love to see an LTE modem integrated in such a device though, so I could finally get rid of my SGo 2
@patrick Very true, but I'd be willing to add a few hundred bucks for such an option (if it's USB-connected)
An m.2 connector (and proper antennas already built into the chassis, which is likely a costly investment as well) for a modem like the BM818 used in the @purism #Librem5 would be just perfect (see, I'm daydreaming again!)
I could of course deal with an external USB modem, but that's another device to carry (and not forget to pack), which I'd rather avoid
Looks like phones with hardware kill-switches running a fully open-source OS will become increasingly popular here! :blobcatfacepalm: 😢

Back from #XtremeFest where I volunteered as a bartender for the past 3 nights: heaven for #PunkRock/#HxC lovers, human-sized (~2k people each night), with a small lake/beach for swimming and recovering during the afternoons! Likely one of the best festivals out there if you're into this kind of music! 🤘 🎸
Oh, and yes, we also have a bar inside a skateboard bowl! 🛹

Sadly, this is also true for aluminum-made drumsticks... RIP
