Uhh, now what kind of device could be running mobian there??? 😉
Is this @fairphone really a #FairPhone5 ?!

Credit for the initial bringup and development work go to @awai, by the way. Should have said so in the initial toot!
To give you a sense of what we talk about: all patches in these folders are those we carry in Mobian.

Mobian started as a hobby project, triggered by the excitement of finally being able to hack one’s mobile phone at will. It is fair to say that the device that made it possible back then was the original PinePhone. However, after running once again into the same difficulties we experienced over and over, we’re wondering whether maintaining support for this device is still worth the effort…

An article on @mobian on phones was published in the print edition of dutch #linuxmagnl! 💓
Subtitled: "Use Debian on your mobile phone"
Thanks to @martijnbraam for telling us!
Thanks to @devrtz for express fixes and @awai for emergency uploads at light-speed!
To follow up on the #phosh breakage due to a glib update: Mobian has a fixed phosh version 0.21.0-2~mobian1 up now. It should be safe to upgrade again.
It will take a few days until the fixed version will arrive in Debian testing.
Since a glib update in Debian yesterday, phosh seems to like to crash a lot. This is likely caused by a deprecation of functionality in glib and caused https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/issues/840 . This was fixed like an hour ago in phosh 0.21.0-2, so do not despair.
@linmob That is sad indeed. Not having a nice #mobileLinux #fediverse client sucks . We are open for recommendations for alternatives. Also perhaps someone would like to pick up the torch, no need to reinvent the wheel.
P.S. #shotonlibrem5
Since using my #librem L5 regularly, I started appretiating all those USB plugs on-the-go.
If you are on mobian staging, an apt dist-upgrade should not cause havoc on your phone anymore.
gnome-bluetooth wants to be removed, but it is replaced by gnome-bluetooth-sendto, so that is OK.
All that will migrate to mobian bookworm soonish, of course.
Remaining problems on mobian staging: 1) the "geary" email client has been (temporarily) dropped from the Debian bookworm repository,
2) and if you had "chatty" accidentally removed earlier, you might need to manually install it again (for now).
PSA: Current new mobian images don't have callaudiod installed leaving you breaking modem audio routing. Please `apt update` and `apt upgrade` to get it pulled in.
