@nyanide@MrLee@arstechnica@druid I do. Never had to deal with badly wired cables that work only one way, mating tolerances so big it's surprising the pins aren't misaligned, stupidly high PD specs,... Until usb-c was forced on everyone.
@feld@takao They might put it in only as an upgrade package, that might or might not be installed if the customer didn't pay for it.
As an example, the 2024 Kia Forte in the LX/LXS trim does not support Kia Connect when I checked it with their availability checker. That might indicate that they don't install it by default into every vehicle and just activate it via some software update/config change. But who knows.
@taylan@waifu@nerthos@hakui Thank you for making my day a little bit more funnier. Your comedic value for others is certainly higher than the fedi average.
@nerthos@hj@druid The variety of blocks for building is the only advantage imo. The combat system is boring and mending completely broke the enchanting system. Villagers can be used to skip 70% of progress anyway...
@nerthos@hj@druid I've never played Vintage story, but the lack of content would probably be an advantage. Modern minecraft cca 1.16 and newer is too bloated for my taste.
@kaia@hj@druid I didn't even know the minetest server existed and I wouldn't know about the Factorio one if HJ didn't talk about it around the new DLC craze.
Maybe organizing some game nights would work, but there probably aren't that many gamers on here and even less play MP. I certainly mostly stopped playing games.
@NonPlayableClown@dcc@p@jae I know a guy that used geothermal energy as a heating source for his house shortly after commies went away in Europe. It was a new technology back then. And the problem with it is that you effectively cool down the area around the "well" and 20 years later it no longer could heat his house, because the area cooled down too much.
You can always drill more wells and switch between them with some monitoring, but I don't know how effective that is in the long run. Nobody really tried it on a large scale yet. Or at least I don't know about it.
