A final matchup between a team owned by the Qatari Petrostate vs. a team owned by a US Private Equity firm in a tournament owned by Saudi Arabia is such a perfect encapsulation of world football these days. #FIFACWC#FediFC
@ai6yr@faineg "Tell you what, the Good Ol' Boys will call up the Good Ol' Boys, and we'll rustle up a posse and go shoot that flood dead!" These people aren't even close to being serious public servants.
"Camp Mystic sits on a strip known to locals as 'flash flood alley.'"
Brilliant. And they put put the youngest kids' cabins closest to the river. Why did anybody ever think any of this was a good idea? And it's been that way forever, to the point where the older kids stay up the hill and it's colloquially named Senior Hill. WTF
That Man City / Al-Hilal game is one of the best I've seen in a long time, regardless of league or competition. Riveting stuff. Still absorbing that MCI is gone. Inter's elimination, as much as I love them, was expected to a degree as they (understandably) seemed mentally exhausted. Probably for the best that they can get some extra rest. CWC definitely getting interesting, although I feel the final will be a juggernaut vs. a huge underdog. #FIFACWC#FediFC
@paulshipper It's funny, I was looking at one of the original Goonies posters and wondered if you did it, but the timeline obviously didn't make sense. Was that Drew Struzan?
The Club World Cup would be cool if it was 16 teams and in medium-sized stadiums (30k capacity or less). Most of these games draw decent numbers, but being in NFL stadiums makes the stands look horrifyingly empty. #FIFACWC#FediFC
@didier It's incredibly ironic that they invited Inter Miami for a bunch of made-up reasons, because they couldn't just say it was only because of Messi. And then his team is the only one that goes through to knockouts, proving they were right all along 😂
