    @sun @adiz @damon @david i mentioned again today the absolute stupidity that was going after ulysses grant and defacing his statues

    a man who never purchased any slaves in a time where that was commonplace and expecetd. he received one (1) slave from family which he never asked for. used the man for like one year to get out of debt, emancipated him, proceeded to write self flagellating letters about how he found it one of the worst things he'd ever done in life, and proceeded to preside over an entire war to end the practice

    i'm not sure what more you need for a redemption arc.

    @sun @adiz @damon @david i disagree. its because they are fundamentally zealots of "all or nothing, all the time" politics. there is no appeals process because redemption and forgiveness is a christian virtue.

    @adiz @damon @david increasingly i think nostr is a good option for "scream in to void" style network, with xmpp and delta chat being better "now that i know who my friends are" networks

    nostr ends up doing a lot of what zot did. if you integrated optional custodial keys in the relays, it basically would be zot. :neocat_woozy:

    @david @Anonsfw q-something went off and made his own distro again. i forget what the name of it was.

    its been fine. one or two programs missing and i had to update some packages with upstream. its probably one of the most viable anti-systemd distros.

    most of the anti systemd distros are clown shows that ultimately have hard deps on systemd distros and just try to pop them out after the fact

    @TheMadPirate @Forestofenchantment they basically tried every imaginable excuse simultaneously and hoped one or more of them would stick. this has been called the firehose strategy elsewhere where the play is to just bombard so many claims that the opponent wastes all of their time deconstructing them.

    the world rather correctly riposted by throwing the stack of papers in the garbage. i don't think storming out of the room as the UN did was proper, but telling them to stop making shit up was.

    there is a dichotomy though because in wartime countries also tend to shut down journalism and speech so its illegal to criticize the war, and then they can gesticulate about how everyone supports the war

    if you are anti war in a warring country you are forced to shut up or escape which skews the metrics
