@sun @adiz @damon @david i mentioned again today the absolute stupidity that was going after ulysses grant and defacing his statues

a man who never purchased any slaves in a time where that was commonplace and expecetd. he received one (1) slave from family which he never asked for. used the man for like one year to get out of debt, emancipated him, proceeded to write self flagellating letters about how he found it one of the worst things he'd ever done in life, and proceeded to preside over an entire war to end the practice

i'm not sure what more you need for a redemption arc.
