a man who never purchased any slaves in a time where that was commonplace and expecetd. he received one (1) slave from family which he never asked for. used the man for like one year to get out of debt, emancipated him, proceeded to write self flagellating letters about how he found it one of the worst things he'd ever done in life, and proceeded to preside over an entire war to end the practice
i'm not sure what more you need for a redemption arc. -

zot is like fedi but while every user has an identity in the form of a pki key, the home server manages it. you can migrate to another home server (and keep a backup even, with a takeover code) and it works.
its not like fedi where you can't just up an go somewhere else without a huge amount of bother -

I'm regularly seeing instances which haven't been around for 2--3 years being freshly-added to newly-formed Fediverse instances who just blindly trust and implement third-party blocklists. So much of #fediblock and the Mastodon-blight "moderation" practices have been purely based on petty internal quarrels and infighting and chauvinistic, Western-centric political purity spirals. Nothing to do with stemming actual harassment nor genuinely building a safer, healthier, nicer community for users. Just like with law enforcement, the people who get attracted to positions of power and influence over others (like jannies) are never sane, level-headed, neutral chill-personality types. These power roles attract absolute scum humans who immediately abuse those positions for their own selfish benefits or ulterior motives. @sun @damon @david
