@icedquinn Blocklisting is kind of insane. I'm regularly seeing instances which haven't been around for 2--3 years being freshly-added to newly-formed Fediverse instances who just blindly trust and implement third-party blocklists. So much of #fediblock and the Mastodon-blight "moderation" practices have been purely based on petty internal quarrels and infighting and chauvinistic, Western-centric political purity spirals. Nothing to do with stemming actual harassment nor genuinely building a safer, healthier, nicer community for users. Just like with law enforcement, the people who get attracted to positions of power and influence over others (like jannies) are never sane, level-headed, neutral chill-personality types. These power roles attract absolute scum humans who immediately abuse those positions for their own selfish benefits or ulterior motives. @sun @damon @david
