    the boox palma 2 is basically android phone without a cell modem. it costs as much as a normal size kindle/kobo/etc.

    ... who is this meant for exactly? someone who wants to read ebook but is also desperate for bag space?

    this also costs them wins, because there are many people who would be willing to meet some of their goals and they are refused because the person who supports raising wages doesn't want puberty blockers etc. in their world any disagreement is nazism (centrist nazis, lmao)

    this is not how you win actually. but progressives tend to lose :cat_sad:

    @adiz @damon @david anything PKI is doomed from the get go. people really aren't compatible with it. that's why i mention custodial relays.

    zot is like fedi but while every user has an identity in the form of a pki key, the home server manages it. you can migrate to another home server (and keep a backup even, with a takeover code) and it works.

    its not like fedi where you can't just up an go somewhere else without a huge amount of bother

    @sun @adiz @damon @david i mentioned again today the absolute stupidity that was going after ulysses grant and defacing his statues

    a man who never purchased any slaves in a time where that was commonplace and expecetd. he received one (1) slave from family which he never asked for. used the man for like one year to get out of debt, emancipated him, proceeded to write self flagellating letters about how he found it one of the worst things he'd ever done in life, and proceeded to preside over an entire war to end the practice

    i'm not sure what more you need for a redemption arc.

    @adiz @damon @david increasingly i think nostr is a good option for "scream in to void" style network, with xmpp and delta chat being better "now that i know who my friends are" networks

    nostr ends up doing a lot of what zot did. if you integrated optional custodial keys in the relays, it basically would be zot. :neocat_woozy:
