Google employees: it is entirely inexcusable to remove holidays like Holocaust Remembrance Day from the calendar. If you aren’t screaming loudly at your management chain about this, you are complicit. FIX THIS.

@ramsey @blaise @blogdiva @kissane Start a recall campaign. Surely this asshat has broken some laws you can hang him for.

@jwz Ah yes, “scar the orphanage” maps to a lot more movies. Breakin’ 2 is the only one that’s actually a rec center. And yes, I paid to see that film in an actual theater on opening day. ;-)

@jwz The only movie I can name with that trope plot was “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.” What other films made it a trope?

@jwz Before I zoomed in, I was like “since when does DNA serve takoyaki?”

@encthenet Seagate has acted in bad faith with drive failures (design flaws) in the past. I can't fathom why people still buy their products.

@dalias @BurritoSommelier Bingo. Sue for malpractice, enriching your lawyer and covering the medical bills and then some. Maybe these ghouls will learn.

Douglas Adams had the right idea.
Yes, you all go to Mars with Elon and start the new right-wing-only society there. We'll be right behind you on the next ship.

Elon Musk is a foreign agent and has broken laws while trying to exert influence over our election process.
The only correct response is to charge him, seize any US assets he has, and deport him.

Oh look, more spam sent to my server from Google's Gmail servers, complete with valid DKIM.
This is your reminder that all of the "anti-spam" stuff that Google uses as an excuse to deny inbound email to Gmail users is actually just anti-competitive nonsense that does not work. They're the largest source of spam themselves. The call is coming from inside the house.

@feld @encthenet I also often use Infuse Pro on my MacBook Pro to get HDR support.
I run Tautulli to keep statistics. The stats Plex showed me when I disabled this feature were totally broken and old compared to Tautulli.

@encthenet Their article says you can alter these settings from Plex Web, which is clearly not the case for the current FreeBSD version of the server. I had to disable these settings from the iOS app.

@johnvoorhees @verge Their commercial models are identical except that they use a conventional Normally Open wiring style to activate, which means that any IoT relay solution can be used to activate them instead of their complicated proprietary solution. I enjoy the iSmartGate product in this use.

A reminder that VS Code has an enterprise-unfriendly remote access backdoor in it. https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/tunnels
Do you trust that this doesn't give Microsoft access to the inside of your firewall and company-proprietary source code and other secrets?
Block all traffic to global.rel.tunnels.api.visualstudio.com.

@lanodan @homeassistant All three browsers I tried gave me this nonsense. Amusingly, using Private Browsing in Safari worked.

Wait, you're telling me that the CEO of Warner Bros. made nearly $.5B last year in compensation? The same guy who has been in charge of all those not good DC superhero movies?
Tim Cook took home only $100M in 2022.
Pretty clear that the writer/actor unions are in the right here. It's a huge problem that the VFX industry has no union because they're absolutely getting screwed.
