Some time ago, while discussing something of little relevance, I pointed out it takes more effort to debunk false statements than to express them.
Today I learnt this unfortunate phenomenon has a smart-sounding name.

"Shit, we could have made those params optional"
The @auschwitzmuseum has been posting photographs of individual victims of the camp.
On #Facebook, 21 of those posts were flagged as 'nudity, bullying and harrassment, hate speech, violence encitement'[^1].
As of November 2023, Meta had 65 Polish-speaking moderators for a monthly avg of 23,5M Poles on FB[^2].
Apparently their work on AI-based moderation tools has been going swimmingly well since the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar. 😓

@multiverseofbadness aaah, the classic. I feel I'm gonna listen to LOTS of piano music this week. 😄
Every time I hear boogie woogie played on the piano, it's a strange experience.
To my untrained eye and ear it sounds and looks like folks just spam random keys and they don't even need notes to consult. And yet it all sounds weirdly coherent.
@emocoder I love this saying, I'll calque it to Polish and use it casually.
I run an Eleventy template and two sites that consume it.
I'm tired of manually updating the template and then porting changes to the two sites I run.
It would be great to replace two sites with a script that would pull the latest version of the template and load the configuration data or stuff.
🤔
@me take it as a confirmation your instance is indeed federated and recognized as a legitimate actor in the ecosystem 😄

Dear #lazyweb,
Does any of you use any over-ear headphones with an exceptionally good built-in mic?
I'm okay to pay an arm and leg but they should be comfortable and offer servicable voice quality for long video calls. Can be wired. Preferably no software component needed, plain ol' mini-jack plug desirable.
I'm thinking about downgrading from Blue Yeti to declutter my desk but I don't want to compromise too much on mic quality. It makes tons of difference to me when others use good mics.
Today I discovered #AI parody of Tom Scott as if he had been Polish and my life won't be the same any more.
@Mastodon I have €107 worth of items in the cart (which is around £93 if I'm not wrong) and it still wants to charge me €16.95 for shipping to Poland. Rip.
We really need better ways to explain the fediverse and the concept of decentralization to newcomers than that worn-out email analogy.
And those concepts are complicated long before folks learn about Pixelfed, Lemmy and alikes.

Someday I'll update my counter of days since I learnt dark history going way back about some common piece of tech. That day is not today though.
@janbartosik Give us all of your beer industry and we have a deal.
And of effin' course PiS won 57% of votes in my childhood hometown.
Not exactly surprising given what I know about its current demographic, atmosphere and attitudes.
It makes me think a lot about what would have happened to me if I hadn't migrated to Warsaw 12 years ago.
Me: git commit, git push. Hell yeah, done.
Files I forgot to 'git add':
@janbartosik 10/10 croc.
