@WarnerCrocker well surprise surprise, the employer has lots of money for wages after all. No doubt they've been jacking up shipping fees during inflation like everything else, time to pay.

@mWare you should be fine as long as you pick a nice 1 story reinforced concrete hotel at least 10m above sea level and oh 5km back from the shore, away from any steep slopes, wet or dry watercourses, palm trees with coconuts, non-reinforced concrete buildings, unsecured livestock or human populations etc. Maybe an inflatable boat inside a mine would be better?

@WarnerCrocker the Russians would love to have the influence machine of "normal TV and Hollywood". Most of it isn't explicitly partisan, but endlessly reinforces the myths needed to prop up wealth capitalism....the American dream "work hard and you can have anything"... "taxes fund govt services" etc

The overall Russian election interference will eclipse it.

Domestic election interference via unrestricted political financing will eclipse that.

Domestic election interference outside of political financing will eclipse that. IMHO, the largest propaganda body is commercial nd entertainment. This sets the table for politics.

A recent #Mastodon web UI update has made content-warned or filtered items take up more space and be more intrusive. So I've had to set a bunch of filters to "hide completely" instead of "hide with a warning".

A hidden post used to be just a one-liner, but now its a box with "diagonal warning tape" down the sides... that's... interesting design, but it's worse for me...the "tape" was even black/yellow for a while...seems to be blue/black now...

I'm not going to collide with a post...

#mastodon follow suggestions are terrible. It recommends accounts with no monthly activity. It also really likes accounts that have 15k followers but only follow 80. It calls these "personalized suggestions". Most of these lopsided accounts have lots of posts that match my post filters.

Not great. The perils of algorithms.
