@thomasfuchs Me either.
And in case it wasn’t clear, this was a two-dollar bill joke.

@thomasfuchs Thomas Jefferson would have asked for $2. 😉
I need to retain the services of an attorney for a FOSS-related licensing issue. (I am not suing anyone or looking to litigate anything; this is primarily for legal advice and legal representation.)
I’m looking for recommendations and to hear from others’ experiences. I’ve never done this before, and I have no idea where to begin or how to go about it.
@benroyce @bolson I wonder if we can convince them to add some RCV provisions to the John Lewis Voting Rights Act that Harris has promised to sign.
@villaverla @tchambers Do they have to register as a party member to vote for them? In my state, we don’t have to register with a party to vote for that party. At least, I’ve never registered with a party, and I’ve been able to vote in primaries and general elections.
Often described as a libertarian, Elon Musk wants to coerce companies to advertise on Twitter. I’ve got no words.
@paul What is “Mastodon-PHP?” Is that the user agent string for a PHP library that integrates with the Mastodon API?
This Olympics feed I’m watching says it’s live, but they just lit the cauldron (hot air balloon), and if it’s live, that means it must be 5am in Paris. Is that right? Is this really live?
Venmo creating a social network around sharing money with friends and making transactions public by default has been one of the most hilarious things ever to happen on the internet.
When I build an image locally and push to the #DigitalOcean Container Registry and try to run it in the App Platform, only to have it fail to run time and time again, while struggling for hours to understand why, it would be really helpful if Digital Ocean would let me know that my image targets arm64 when it should target amd64, instead.
🤦♂️
Tomorrow is #PHP 8.4.0alpha1 day, for all who celebrate!
@fathermcgruder Temporary block would be nice, but you’re able to leave private notes on any profile right now, so you can note your own reason for blocking someone.
@fathermcgruder I don’t think the account being blocked should have access to any of my notes about why they were blocked.
If someone blocks you, they don’t owe you a reason. They don’t owe you anything. Pursuing them in other places to find out why they blocked you or to ask them to remove the block could be considered harassment. Don’t do that. Just accept it and move on.
I’ve been blocked by people I respect, and it does feel bad, but you aren’t entitled to a reason. Respect their freedom of association.
@gerrymcgovern @blogdiva I thought Joshua trees were protected or something?! Are they not?
@jalcine When I was recently job searching, I found job descriptions that mentioned they support diversity “of all kinds” to be a red flag.
Here’s an example of a good headline, but it’s the only one I’ve seen that doesn’t have a “#PHP is insecure,” “the sky is falling” vibe. https://securityaffairs.com/164302/breaking-news/php-critical-rce.html https://phpc.social/@ramsey/112590116600250809
It boils my blood to hear folks insinuate that #PHP is the source of their performance problems and they should switch to microservices in another language to fix the performance issues. Maybe spend a little bit of time figuring out where your bottlenecks are and fix those, first!
(This may or may not be a sub-toot.)
@uberbrady @nunomaduro `php -a` gives you a decent built-in REPL, though PsySH is easier to use and has more features (and is what Laravel Tinker uses under the hood).
