@harpaa01@inthehands we have a plain Yuba Kombi to which we slapped an electric kit. The 0 to moving is snappy[1], the biggest challenge it to get used to the kids changing your balance in those critical moments.
[1] maybe too much. From my non motorized bike experience, I keep a foot on the raised pedal when stopped, and the system feels the weight as force and tries to start moving. Maybe I should talk to the BRM who installed it.
I remember reading or watching about a privacy focused guy writing a tool (a browser extension?) that emitted a click for every time a site leaked your privacy. I know, it's a vague description. I'm trying to find if such a thing actually exists as a #firefox extension, just to test how radioactive sites actually are. The closest I get are the stats from uBlock Origin:
Blocked on this page: 26 (48%) Blocked since install: 172,340 (34%)
This on my corpo account with the default uBO config.
@Blinxeto@ATLeagle@lednaBM hmm, but right now isn't just a matter of setting up a corpo somewhere else with lower taxes, send all the money there, and "bring" only "what's needed"?
Hint: if I ever take an exam on tax evasion, I'll probably get a 0.
@inthehands I keep telling my friends that English is the most difficult language to learn, as you have to know how each word is pronounced, not even counting difference in pronounciation AND writing! Even French people are surprised when I tell them that reading French is easier.
As for Tasty Pasty, I pronounce them similalrly, aren't they?
I call myself a Senior Systems Developer and Administrator, having being on both sides of the fence and on the fence itself. My full CV is here https://www.grulic.org.ar/~mdione/ except for the post I'm leaving now, which was titled SRE, but included security, systems architect, devops and IT guy. You can also have an idea about what I have been doing by checking the #til tag.
@azonenberg@goatsarah@neil lenses need that extra, post infinity 'reach' to do the autofocusing. Not sure if any of them actually have the infinity properly marked; none of the few ones I have/had had it. My current one has something that doesn't feel very accurate. Looking at manual focus lenses, they implement a similar cursor, but most seem to have the extra info of FoD, which make hyper focusing easier.
I use a similar technique to what @goatsarah explained. I mostly use Jupiter.
@dhoppe thanks. That means that now I "only" have to extract the variable information from #ansible. As that aspect of ansible is quite complex to reproduce, I will have to rely on Ansible itself. Maybe one could use it as a module and ask it to generate that?
"The famous Luddites[...] [were] rational people who noticed that there was something deeply wrong with how society was organized that a machine which improved efficiency [...] was causing poverty [...] among the very workers who it should have benefited. [...] After all it should be the people doing back breaking work who are most happy about a machine replacing them, but because all efficiency gains go to the owners, those people are simply out of a job."
@mattly my current team (TBH it's not a company policy) expects me to have a #GooglePlayServices enabled phone so I can receive alerts during the rotational on-call duty. I asked for an on-call phone, but it was denied. Instead, I had to build another alerting channel. At least this time I had an alternative.
@tudor@oisin@bobthomson70@cstross another non-English example: in my region in Argentina, "culiá", short for "culiado/a", as a term of endearment, but literally meaning "fucked in the ass": "q'acé, ch'culiá!": "how are you, friend!".
@killyourfm@thunderbird Yeah, can you please make that explicit in your announce? The literal hundred of thousands of us looking for our next position will thank you. More info here:
Here the state provides free healthcare, free education, unemployment benefits, police and firefighters, all roads except highways, affordable and decent public transport, and more. My landlord mostly fixes everything that is broken as long as the law prescribes that they should do it (consumables like lamps are paid by us).
