MASTODON TIP OF THE DAY: This seems to be as good a time as any to remind you that you can use "in:library" with search terms in your Mastodon search (at least, with the advanced web interface), to search for text in the Mastodon posts you have made in the past. Please see the attached image for an example:

I mean, you could argue that the birdsite brand was one of the most valuable things about the company Apartheid Clyde bought ("tweet" became a part of the English language, for God's sake!).

The comments on the Reddit thread that posted this screenshot are notable, with many reporting that their companies are now pulling all presence on, links to, or mentions of, the birdsite, instead of going along with the rebranding to the 24th letter of the alphabet. Good morning! ☕ I am spending my weekend shopping for a new car to replace my 20-year-old Toyota Echo (yes, I keep my cars until they are nothing but rust and dust!). ?

I had been apparently living under a rock, and I was not aware of the long wait times to buy a new vehicle here in Canada (6-9 months for a Corolla, 12-14 months for a Corolla Cross). ?

I *HATE* car shopping with every fibre of my being (another reason why my current car is 20 years old).

@Mrfunkedude Make liberal use of filters to avoid seeing things which trigger you. I just discovered that the Toot! iOS app now filters your Trending feed using your personal filters, and it’s the only way I look at Trending posts now.

#JohnMastodon is proof that things *CAN* go viral here on Mastodon, but the key is that *YOU* are the algorithm. The reason that the John Mastodon meme showed up on other people's timelines is because so many users boosted the posts.

The lesson here is: please don't just favourite something if you really enjoyed it; BOOST it so that other people can enjoy it, too! This is the only reason why I bother to create as large a social graph as I can on Mastodon—to act as an amplifier. You can, too!❤️?

I am ANGRY.

I just checked my locked-down account on the birdsite, where I had previously deleted all my tweets using https://tweetdelete.net, only to find that 3,152 of them had been somehow restored (from a backup, perhaps?).

I once again ran TweetDelete to remove them this morning, but I am wondering if I should just deactivate my damn account and let them delete it after 30 days.
