You incorporate code that is licensed under the GPL in your software (in the form of training data) so your software has to be published under GPL as well. Sure AI companies try to deny this and try to influence public opinion and those of judges in their favor, but for me it's clear.

Questionable is perhaps only if generated code from that software would also be GPL.

@aras so they admit training on GPL code... That would make their whole AI model need to be published under GPL as well. And from my understanding everything that was generated with it as well.

@darnell actually... This is the most stupid idea. There are no resources to properly train and equip all the mandatory people.

Young people (who would be affected) overwhelmingly dislike the idea therefore leed to an even higher rejection.

It's simply a trick on paper to give the broad public (who will not be affected) the illusion that Merz keeps us safe...

A much better, approach would be to make the country something that the younger generation would see fighting for again.

@darnell Germany just changed to dual citizenship last year... And Merz and his CDU already freaked out before this and want to revert it now again... It was one of the silliest debate in German Parlament I have even seen.

As if it would devalue a citizenship, if people could have more than one.

@Gargron one thing about the #Fediverse that I really appreciate is, that it's a place where individual cultures can build spaces suitable for their individual needs. Instead of trying to fit into a framework given by a US corporation.

I don't see how one centrally controlled platform by Meta, that is trying hard to hide that other instances exist, would be good for the #fediverse in the long term.

It's not even good for the people switching. Meta already started to acting in the same way Twitter did with silencing unwanted political voices, e.g. during last french election.

I respect both of you for the things you do. I hope you don't take it too personal if some people dislike you. Maybe that is just unavoidable once you are interacting with a certain number of people. You can't make everyone happy.
