     @feyter It is very unclear if that is actually the case, the FSF has not made any deliberation on what might even apply. Since AI models also do not distribute anything .. the GPL might not even be applicable...

     @aras so they admit training on GPL code... That would make their whole AI model need to be published under GPL as well. And from my understanding everything that was generated with it as well.

     I think you should accept this offer.

     @amszmidt @aras at least for me it sounds very clear.

     You incorporate code that is licensed under the GPL in your software (in the form of training data) so your software has to be published under GPL as well. Sure AI companies try to deny this and try to influence public opinion and those of judges in their favor, but for me it's clear.

     Questionable is perhaps only if generated code from that software would also be GPL.

     @feyter There is an thread on this topic on internal GNU lists ... the short summary is that it is a complicated subject.
