I had been toying with Garmin GPS since the late 90s. I recall renting a GPS with a rental car out of town around 2009; it was nearly unusable. I’m not certain how robust Maps was on the iPhone yet I had an open 3G or 3GS at the time, that was the first iPhone with aGPS, I may have fallen back on that.
@WarnerCrocker I’m sort of glad professional theatrical costumers are still a bit of a trade secret.
@WarnerCrocker Just had to remind myself of the context and details of the Clint Eastwood Vs. Empty Chair debate. I think Clint lost, no?
Most of paper towels, tissue, etc, are made in the states; but their corporate manufacturers may still take the opportunity to price gouge.
@WarnerCrocker we saw it happen; oil and hostage crisis used to bury Carters chances.
Currently my Apple Watch and my iPhone are estranged due to software upgrades, I assume.
The first time I noticed Apple Pay on the watch wasn’t comunnicating with Apple Pay on the phone was the last time I used Apple Pay in the meat world on either actually. I liked running tabs on my spending. I did NOT like that it was keeping two sets of books.
Alarms aren’t propagating
Some of it is due to using airplane mode as a Do Not Disturb focus in places I don’t want phone rings.
Timers that float above the machines you loaded.
@WarnerCrocker I wonder if it’s still chewing on that huge photo collection, indexing it specifically for the new phone.
@WarnerCrocker it’s odd that it isn’t given a point upgrade.
Maybe iOS 18 was installed via the pizza box method, but with a special version of iOS 18 GC. Something a bit earlier than the self install subversion that went out over the web.
@WarnerCrocker A Friend held them and I attended and bought. There were nice designs you could only find through them.
Now I could drive to the container store, I guess.
I wonder if someone will buy their molds and manufacturing the way Walmart did with Rubbermaid.
I could imagine Target being interested.
It’s not a bad business if you have the retail network for customers.
@WarnerCrocker an iPad screen should have more room for ‘clarity’ on an OS Update.
I was starting to wonder if it wasn’t showing what should be visible because I may have bumped up the default font size on my phone a notch.
And actually, that last stage of install seems more straightforward, may have improved. It used to go through some motions twice, and the ‘time to install’ after the first few mystery minutes of 20+ hours remaining, seemed more accurate.
Still, a hot mess.
Sort of glad I didn’t get a g4 iPad pro as soon as I wanted to now.
Never less than two hours for me. Never!
Maybe if I took out the phone apps I never touched? I doubt it.
Me update you LONG time!
@WarnerCrocker I have seen this and read it as do the one you like.
In case you aren’t ready for change.
But I have also, done the last security os17 dot update before commencing the os 18 upgrade.
@WarnerCrocker I prefer ‘update now, so I can catch if something goes wrong.’
I think the truth is, Apple would rather roll out the upgrades on their schedule, not yours, so as to control traffic jams, make life easier on their servers etc.
Saying ‘Tonight’ allows them to target the devices when they think you are sleeping, etc, not tooling around with the apps and bandwidth as it happens.
And that’s great if you live in a fast WiFi cloud, and trust their randomness.
Did they ever find Crosby Stills Nash and Young?
I reckon America was riding in the desert for some reason.
And he has the golden ticket of immunity (or does he?) when he should be locked up where he can be less of a danger and nuisance. At this point he is going to focus on contesting elections and denying votes and being a general agent of chaos.
The USPS situation needs to be repaired somehow.
