@WarnerCrocker On the scale of performance, I'll say this: I think there's some balance to a gentleman of color setting a filibustering record to advocate for democracy, as opposed to a racist stubbornly clinging to a failed worldview.
@WarnerCrocker hah! I think many of us did. This was the same guy who was not a very nuturing or supportive basketball coach to the boy's team during that season.
These days I am absolutely haunted by a moment that happened to me in seventh grade, back in the 1980s.
Our Western Civilization teacher (a conservative who was still railing against the Soviet menace) had us deep in a module on Stalin's brutal crackdowns when he paused for a long moment and said:
"You know, as long as you're on the side of the fascists, fascism is absolutely the best form of government to live under. The problem is that no one stays on their side for long."
"Starship is an embarrassment, not just for SpaceX, but for the US. It’s not a revolution; it is a nightmare of twisted monopolistic privatisation and the idiotic inefficiency that comes alongside that. It’s pathetic and dangerous, and we can do so much better."
if I understand the Apple pundit zeitgeist at the moment, Apple *checks list* faces an existential crisis over its AI deficit, AI being a technology that has *squints* cost tech companies billions of dollars to implement without any real benefit to the consumer.
Today this happened near where I work. It is very important to understand how big this crowd was: Multiple orders of magnitude bigger than candidate Trump's acolytes attracted to the same location, during the campaign. And a lot of the cars that drove by were honking in solidarity with them.
The message I want to get across to both my fellow Americans and to those abroad: Many of us are very fucking angry about what's happening.
Former tech journalist of 20+ years, here now for the shitposts and wry observations on life. My CV is a public record and I've linked the relevant stuff.
