@flargh I've stopped cringing. I react to those the same way I do flyers placed under windshield wipers in a parking lot. Just more shit to clean off my shoes.

Sure, Shit on shoes but it also might merely mean someone looking for new work, or any work, because they have to.
I hate LinkedIn and have avoided every In Real Life request I have received to ‘Join’, but brother, looking for work is no picnic, lifecrushingly difficult for some.

@WarnerCrocker I understand the performance and the subtext, but I hate that this is what LinkedIn has become.
I'm not sure how it ever fit into the pantheon of professional social media to begin with, it's always been a misfit.
And my past experiences with it as a work generator have left me harshly wanting.
I've long felt like my presence there is a necessary evil, like having Facebook and Twitter namespaces occupied, if fallow.

@flargh The utility is undeniably important. That said, for company that allows that utility to be overrun with crap, leading to the impression that it values the crap as much as the genuinely useful is what turns me off.

@WarnerCrocker The company in question being Microsoft, which has a very well documented propensity for allowing utility to be overrun with crap. So at least it's on brand.
