If you want your own email serve check out mail-in-a-box. I use it for my own email needs.

You need a domain and a VPN for that one.

Cloud wise I use Nextcloud and have installed Collabora for online office services.

Password wise, I think Bitwarden still have a server you can download and install. But push comes to shove a Spreadsheet, or a notebook just to physically keep passwords is an option.

So, I was just curious to see what a pass to the National Park system might run. Seems a lot of them are bound to groups or individual parks. A few are near $100 for an annual pass.

... Apparently Veterans can get a lifetime pass for "Free" ($10USD processing fee) and get full access to anything maintain by the USGS including BLM land and national parks.

I put in for it and am now waiting for the pass to get to me.

Always fun when you find something like that out. So if you served your country and got $10 laying around go ahead and do that.

It's tough, especially since I have a bad habit of buying a domain when I have an idea.

I bought Texans.social because I wanted to start a Texas centered instance on the Fediverse... I could easily start a Mastodon server or something else and get it running in less than two hours...

I still haven't.

I have 23 domain names.

Some of them are the same name but with different TLD extensions, but not many. It's a very large amount.

I need to either make use of them or get rid of them.

I want to write longer Formated articles in Drupal eventually and will probably use my domains, but I want some efficiency on that part as well.

It's taken centuries for Banking to get to this point. Plus if it weren't for our current structure remote payments for goods and services wouldn't have anything to build on.

Hell, taking gold and giving back an equal amount minus a small fee was the initial work of the Knights Templar.

It's a limitation on micro-blogging really. Even at 500 characters it's difficult to get something complex across the divide without sometimes threading a few posts together.

Still kind fighting to get the main Mastodon frontend working. SO far it doesn't seem to stop me from using the server, just not from that spot which makes sense.

MIght just give up and switch back to regular Mastodon here in a bit. But could really use some advice since it won't build the precompile phase.

Tried to move my Mastodon serve to SOC-glitch.

Right now I can't access anything from the website. Fedilab and the listing of notifications from Nextcloud seem to work.

Had to do a distro update in place.

It's definitely something I would prefer be in the Administration menus as a setting controllable by the admin then needing to modify project files.

I completely agree. It's honestly one reason I was thinking of just adding ActivityPub to WordPress or Drupal and see what happens.

I found ways to modify the character limit, but am worried that it will be undone every single upgrade.

I have thought of moving from Mastodon to pelorma, but it's very difficult to figure out it feels like.

No, this is different and is a major issue for Foss project within the EU. Been hearing about it a lot from the Linux podcast I listen to.

It basically makes it so Tech companies are liable for anything that happens on their platforms or any security breaches attributed to their software. And for Meta or even projects providing key libraries and programs for Linux this could be bad.

We need to be working on getting encrypted chat setups running where we can.

Someone remind me what the #Facebook type #ActivityPub Options were. I remember #Friendca but not others.

Has anyone thought of adding ActivityPub functionality to something like Libre.fm so we could built a music Fediverse branch?
