@feld @alex @realcaseyrollins I think the concern here is that someone will set up a web crawler to pull every image on the internet and then use the hashes to weed that down to the illegal content specifically for redistribution/use. Security by obscurity in a way.

@professionalbigot69 @sickburnbro Heat should destroy any effective trace of it (they have to do extensive refrigeration before use or it breaks down immediately) and the meat will be safe even if it causes tumors because there's no cross-species cancers that are contagious without also having AIDS or being a tasmanian devil. Overall I wouldn't worry unless you're regularly eating beef carpaccio, even if you understandably wouldn't want to inject it into yourself.

@Amalek_Respector @mkultra Why should someone invest in raising a family with someone indifferent to them from the start? That's the grim scenario you had laid out, and that family is already in a failure state.
I'm not a MGTOW philosophy guy, but what is in it for them that they should take action if that's truly the prospect? An ungrounded assertion that they should reproduce isn't going to convince someone that has checked out of a large part of society, social pressure only works on someone who considers himself a part of that society.

@alex @matty He's being charged with a threat but it's really incitement of a criminal act, which I'd say he is reasonably guilty of.
His problem is that he mentioned a specific individual and there is a reasonable capacity for him to cause the crime to occur. If he'd said "kill all cops" he'd have been better off legally because it's hyperbolic and not actionable (in most scenarios). The more specific your target (Chitwood) and more detailed your methods (gun) the more fucked you are.

@feld @lain @cjd All it takes is for the courts to actually enforce obscenity even slightly and 99% of porn currently sold goes away. The legality of it hinges on "whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value." as your article says, and by that standard pretty much none of it should exist. There is the possibility for porn with artistic/literary merit but I can't think of a single filmed example made in decades.
