@evan I sometimes get the feeling there is an uncomfortable thought that I'm avoiding, it usually manifests as a general feeling of anxiety.

That's when I know I need to steel myself and look it in the face so I can understand _what_ is bothering me, _why_ it's bothering me, _whether_ it should bother me, and what action I can take to deal with it.

I'll have a sense of dread all day and the realize it's sometimes as silly as "I read a headline that didn't sit well with me".

I can't seem to find it in the #Mastodon docs, but I'm trying to come up with a #regex for validating Mastodon usernames and can't find exactly what's allowed.

Part of me wants to treat it like an e-mail address with an extra at sign.

@evan if there was a fragmented ecosystem of video platforms with comparable user share, or of YouTube was losing user growth, then yes.

I don't think a scenario is a foregone conclusion, but I don't see it happening without Alphabet totally fumbling the ball worse than it did during the adpocalypse, or without a large grassroots movement.

I think if you see that in the platforms that have turned on or promise to turn on AP (Threads, Tumblr, Flipboard) vs those that haven't (X, FB, Reddit)

@evan Should it federate for the benfit of its audience and content producers? Yes. Should it federate for the benefit of its shareholders? Not a chance (imho).

@evan I saw this reply isolated on my timeline and read it as "I'm strong, yes", and thought "Evan is feeling himself, that's awesome." :P

@evan I burn out for some time after elections but yah, I'm a bit of a politics news junky when it comes to both US and Can pol. (I've even worked on elxn statistical models in my spare time :P )
