@soapdog there's activityPub4j in Java (https://github.com/msummers/activityPub4j) but it seems to be very unmaintained. I'd be interested in contributing to a Java (or some other JVM language) AP library.

I think that even beyond the racist language, what really makes Tolkien's stuff so appealing to fascists is the repeated theme of a golden age of past purity vs present degeneration, heroes that represent the true lineage in a struggle against corruption and fall. He introduces some complexity so it's not completely cut and dried but that's still the central theme of pretty much all of it and it fits fash ideology ☹️

I was definitely in the wait and see, reactive moderation, federation might be more strategic camp wrt Meta but with how their moderation policy is already turning out to be, with the news coming out, I'm starting to lean more towards just block and fuck em. I suspect that I'm not the only one.
