   Whats the current state of the art in terms of #ActivityPub #development libraries?

   Are you developing a new ActivityPub-based project and in love with your stack? Does it include some FOSS AP library that you enjoy using? Please, tell me what it is.

   I'm considering doing a new project with a friend and we're trying to grok what people are using or if everyone is reimplementing AP server-to-server from scratch.

   Please, consider boosting so I can get some answers, thank you.

     @soapdog there seem to be dozens of projects in various stages of completion or disrepair. Anecdotally all of the seem to be single person efforts, with all that this implies.

     Imho the #activitypub universe (#fediverse) needs to grow up and develop community based reference implementations for all major stacks.

     They will serve both as smooth onboarding for new contributors and to ensure that all the amazingly diverse use cases one can build will have a minimum of interoperability.

     @soapdog there's activityPub4j in Java (https://github.com/msummers/activityPub4j) but it seems to be very unmaintained. I'd be interested in contributing to a Java (or some other JVM language) AP library.

     @tokyo_0 @soapdog I'm going to checkyour tool out, would it be ok to ask questions? I'm looking at the library and an example would be helpful. I want to build an AP server in Java but this type of protocol is very new to me.

     @tokyo_0 @andregasser @soapdog (and to be honest, the impetus for this project is learning some techniques for my next role that starts in about 3 weeks, so who knows how far it'll ultimately get once I'm busy at the job. But no learning is ever wasted)

     @tokyo_0 @andregasser @soapdog yeah I was just reviewing it and indeed it's a client library for the Mastodon API, which isn't what I'm looking for, because my wheelhouse is in the back end. But I'm learning as much as I can, and there is a lot to do even outside of ActivityPub integration, which in my project will be a separate set of services from the MVC layers I'm focusing on first. My main concern wrt AP rn is to learn as much as I can, and not make the integration difficult later...
