@killyourfm Reading this I just realized that since not living alone (and not having a pair of Bluetooth headphones) I drastically reduced the amount of time I listen to music, how come I didn't notice this is a major reason why my mood has been very low, lately?

Although my opinion doesn't count, I'm one of those crazy people who like 100% scaling at 4K

@killyourfm I think there's a definition based on a well determined score, it's considered specialty if it's >=80/100, but in practical terms, coffee you buy in a grocery store is just not coffee, I buy directly from specialty coffee roasters that ship their product immediately after roasting, grind it myself and brew it

Do you have a machine that you could exclusively dedicate to testing? I would focus on a single device first, isolating variables would be way harder if we started randomly collecting data from different machines.
Oh, another idea to add to the notes, running a test (any, once we define something), both on an SSD and a hard drive, those spinning disks should be more power hungry if I'm not mistaken

@killyourfm Not really, at least in a reasonable amount of time. I wonder if someone like @phoronix could do something similar, it would be interesting. Then we could easily collect more data in a standardized way and do a better quality analysis

@killyourfm @libreoffice I think we should collect all these ideas and then figure out a way to automate the testing under very specific conditions. What I mean is that we should probably try to change one variable at a time, we could probably come out with some sort of benchmark performing some sort of standardized test, ideally

@killyourfm I think before collecting data from various different people, we should try to organise some sort of guideline to follow, just to make sure everyone who's involved is on the same page.
We could start collecting individual data and try to look for interesting patterns before asking the community to submit anything

@killyourfm As someone who's got an M1 chip this is literally what I'm screaming for, efficiency. It's unfortunate that on the hardware side we don't have anything that's equivalent as an open standard, but we can still do something that would impact positively on a large scale, on the software side.
I published a paper in material science where sustainability was the core topic, investigating this aspect in open source software development would be really interesting and potentially useful
