@dansup I kinda feel you on this one. I love Tusky precisely because it's so minimalistic. It doesn't even have a federated TL.

I don't want loads of features, just straightforward simplicity and intuitive design. Anything I can't do on the phone app, I can probably do on the web app, and anything I can't do on the web app, I probably don't need.

@Pineywoozle @atomicpoet @CStamp Tusky has the below options. Most apps do have options for limiting to followers only, but you need a largish following for that to be optimal, engagement-wise.

@atomicpoet Good discussion up until that point. I understand the official app directing people to mastodon.social because it avoids the dilemmas newcomers have in choosing an instance. But that only works with full nomadic identity, so said newcomers can bide their time picking a new instance that suits them.

Without that, it does look like an attempt at centralization. Most users simply don't want to lose all their content, bookmarks, etc., even if they keep their followers.

@Mastodon Will users be able to opt out of search, so that they can choose to make individual posts searchable with hashtags? I was quite enjoying having a lower profile here than on the other platforms.
