@BeAware @stefan the 2nd one is reasonable because it contextualizes the meme, the first one is not because again, the meme remains without context.
I don't see how putting this through chat got is less trouble than just writing out your own text.

@stefan I've seen the results of automatic alt text using an AI, and I would say the results range from missing the point of the image to flat out wrong.
I think blind people and people on slow Internet connections (like me!) don't deserve to be fed automated disinformation, and honestly I would prefer no alt text at all if accuracy is impossible.
@ryanhoulihan The closer you watch, the worse he'll do. Such is the power of "what if a girl sees??" anxiety.
Roommate Alex just came over to tell me that his job has been thrown back into the dark ages and S-bucks corporate has told everyone to just give away free coffee untill they can fix it. (They can't fix it)
This sounds like today's gonna be white lady caffeine withdrawal meltdown city, which is terrible, but I'm cackling. God what a nightmare.
All hail the General Cloud Strike
@ryanhoulihan the problem is when I suggest comics for these kind of things people put their noses in the air about it.
That said, there's a lot of trans/nonbinary people making good comics.
@inthehands @grimalkina no worries, I had a good experience being a student at my community college so I'm only speaking from that
@inthehands @grimalkina all the people in higher education who are good at teaching, but hate doing research, are at the community college level teaching people who need it.
At the university level you can get away with bad pedagogy because you can always wave your hand and say "oh well I suppose some people just aren't cut out for the rigors of academia" when students ask for clarification on your syllabus.
comic updated!

@eris Seattle Freeze only happens to normies who look like they're not a good long-term bet for friendship. Like, if they seem like they're gonna move back home in a month because they hate it here people will just let them go.
If you look queer? People are generally very welcoming.
@ryanhoulihan try dark chocolate and Advil
A tumblr post for you
Found a meme for y'all over on tumblr. #startrek
@NilaJones @DrCuriosity they probably were sent, and there's a lot of them addressed to one guy which were all found in the same place and they're by different authors.
Not baking the tablets was normal. Think of it like laminating paper, it's a whole thing, you wouldn't do it for most stuff.
Everybody knows the Ea-Nasir facts, only people who took anthropology classes know the interesting conjecture:
Fact: most sumerian clay tablets were not baked/fired, they were usually recycled and the clay reused.
Fact: the Ea-Nasir complaint tablets were found, baked, in the ruins of a house.
Therefore we might assume that Ea-Nasir kept his unbaked complaint tablets in his house and somebody burned his house down.
Yet another denizen of the interwebs and OG dog girl.Allegedly an artist, but most of what I do here is write about my day.I'm still figuring out the fediverse, but as always, I did come here to make friends.icon by: ME!- .... .. -. -.- / -... . ..-. --- .-. . / -.-- --- ..- / ... .--. . .- -.- --..-- / - .... .. -. -.- / .... .- .-. -.. . .-. / -... . ..-. --- .-. . / -.-- --- ..- / .... .. - / .-. . .--. .-.. -.-- / --- -. / -- -.-- / .--. --- ... - ... .-.-.-
