@Venn I really hope #Volla can pull it off. They're surely in a better position for it than most. It'd be even better if they could ship their stuff to US or JP.

These days I've all but given up on dedicated #linux tablets/phones. Even though we have loads of em that are capable of running #postmarketOS, most of em still fall short of usable most of the time. The only folks who seem to have nailed the linux handheld experience is the #SailfishOS team. But of course there's a problem with that'n as well; if you're outside the EU, you'll have to suffer the trimmed-down DIY version of it.

These days I've found it much more practical to run something in a #chroot environment within #termux. I runs quite well on nearly any #android capable device via #proot, or even better in a proper chroot on a rooted one.

Looks like someone's forgotten how to solder barefoot. 😆

Over the years I think I've tried nearly every launcher combined with nearly every #DooM port available (for #linux). So far -outside my own cobbled together wad selecting script- the best launcher I've found has been DoomRunner. I can't wait to get to playin around with a new one!

@BeAware How many of us can honestly say we've never said somethdng stupid that pissed off a friend? If they ceace to call me a friend because of that, they likely didn't consider me one before they knew what sorta stupid shit comes out my mouth. I'd say it's a far shittier way to treat people the way most do in the online world whereby they just block/ignore someone to forget they exist, than simply telling them how they disagree.

Nothing wrong with being honest about who you are and what you think. You just gotta remember that more people than not don't appreciate that and would prefer you tell them what they want to hear.

I can only answer as far as Japanese is concerned, but I expect Chinese has a similar reason for stroke order. In Japanese, it is considered to be a fundamental part of writing and uniquely defines each character. The main reason for the order though is fluidity. When written correctly, each stroke leaves you (mostly) where you need to be for the next; it aids in writing for both speed and legibility. A hand-written character done in the wrong order is more than not, easily identifiable as "incorrect". This difference is much easier to see when written with a brush or flat marker, but pen, pencil, chalk, rocks, burnt sticks ...they all leave a heavy and light side for each stroke made. The order in which strokes are made becomes even more important when writing similarly to the (not cursive) example @skyblond put above. Writing anything in this style would be impossible to read if strokes were not made in the correct order.

@jupiter_rowland @Regez I don't get much ridiculousness on my feed(?), it's not too difficult to weed out, but I saw a rather disheartening thing show up recently that was encouraging people to "fight back"/"take a stand" against #Meta connecting to #Mastodon.

No, that's not what #ActivityPub is for, the whole idea is to allow communication across different services. There seems to be quite a few people who do not want non-Mastodon things in the #fediverse. I'm not so sure that it's simply a matter of ignorance, although that probably has a bit to do with it.
