   I wanna nuke Windows from the gaming PC. can I ask my sysadmin to set up a Windows VM for Steam? will Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition work there? I wanna play ranked maybe too :jelsweat:

     @bartholin I'm mostly worried they'd kick me out of online games because VM. SomeOrdinaryGamer talked about this for his favorite game (forgot what it was).
     
     I don't know many things, so I need help. I pay in cake, planning vacations and doing taxes.

     @kaia@brotka.st @bartholin@fops.cloud I use steam directly on Linux. Surprisingly - Most Stuff runs very fine and without any manual labour with proton.

     @kaia @mp @bartholin does steam require administrator privileges? Just use different users and do fast user switching between steam user and private user. I used to do that all the time.

     @kaia As long as you can somewhat competently read english, you should have no problem gaming via Steam on linux without the supervision of any ""sysadmin"" type person. Most games are playable without any hassle, they "just work" nowadays. However, some online games will flag you as a cheater if they detect you playing from without a Windows environment.
