@mastodonmigration @pfefferle@notiz.blog @pfefferle@mastodon.social I know someone from WordPress Italia community and someone at Tumblr (part of Automattic now, the company behind WordPress).
If you think it could help I can bring this to their attention.
@killyourfm Have you heard of @funkwhale ?
@killyourfm The other day I had to install the drivers on Windows 10 for our Brothers printer (raffle prize from my Ubuntu Users days!).
According to Brother, it should work ™ out of the box®.
Turned out I had to search for the model in some Advanced Settings. That loaded in minutes.
Then updating the driver in some hidden corner for Optional Updates (like also Firmware updates that stalled since YEARS).
People pay for this?!
@silverpill
Unlikely.
We won't have enough people to run that.
I expect copyleft code to be integrated into Forgêjo this year. Likely the federation capabilities.
As much as it concerns me, the technical side is strong in the project.
But the governance is lacking.
This could very much lead to a „Tech Bro“ culture. May or may not be okay.
What bugs me is that the lived culture doesn't match the proclaimed one.
That's plain dishonest.
Therefore I speak up.
@silverpill
Now there might be people (think straight white men) that don't have a problem with Tech Bro Culture.
But it's not living up to its full potential if you ask me.
There's so much more people could do with a forge!
I'm saying that as straight white man.
@forgejo
I hereby demand a correction.
I *did not* executed my Right to be Forgotten. The article is misleading.
See https://jaenis.ch/blog/2023/forgejo-sacrifice-inclusiveness-and-calls-it-healing/ for my point of view
@forgejo
For the record: perfectly fine comments are getting redacted:

There's no official enforcement of moderation in place towards this #Forgejo member.
@killyourfm
Ask community for a description (there was an abbreviation for it. !B if I recall correctly)
@killyourfm
Ah, so you brought something from your holidays back home.
Splendid!
@killyourfm
Just ask @aral how you can totally fry your instance (he blogged about it)
@killyourfm
I mean, you could query the API for a copy of your content (let me know if I shall share a Python repo for this) and populate your database with it.
But you would loose the links to layer8.space.
@killyourfm
Has some Derek Sivers vibes (not sure whether you have heard of him. He founded CD Baby).
Go make stuff reminds me on https://gomakethings.com/
(HT @alcinnz )
I should really set aside time to try pyrography ?
Thanks for sharing this video!
@killyourfm
Morning!
Productive? Hopefully.
Sane? Not so much.
@killyourfm
Not quite.
Skeuomorphism is relying on things from the analogue world (desktop, trashbin, folders etc) as metaphors for digital items.
You might want to look into neomorphism.

@killyourfm
Let me know how it goes!
I'm aware of Yunohost and Sandstorm in terms of Fediverse.
Personally I look into hosting within Europe (mainly because data protection levels. And the hope of not having secret agencies doing stuff on those machines).
Signed up with @Stuxhost (Netherlands) but am confused by their tiers.
So haven't progressed much here.
Guess, I'll end up with a Hetzner VPS some day.
@killyourfm
Convince your employer to set up an instance ?
@helge
I'm using Fedilab @apps . Here I can at least write drafts.
If sending a toot fails, it'll saved as draft.
But yeah, offline support is handy for spotty connectivity such as in Germany.
Board any ICE and you'll understand.
We even have regions without any mobile data connection at all!
