   I want to post more photos on my #Pixelfed account, but I honestly suck at explicitly describing images -- especially of nature -- for the visually impaired.

   Any tips or tools for that?

     @killyourfm Yeah, I just tried it with a picture of Granny with a bubble wand and this was the first result:

     a man holding a nintendo wii game controller

     @killyourfm my tip is: think about how you would describe it to someone who can't see your screen!

     You do NOT have to be extraordinarily detailed; instead, focus on both the objective AND subjective bits that stand out to you.

     Just think you're on the phone and saying, "dude, I took this great photo..." and describe it. :)

     @killyourfm Don't overthink the descriptions and keep it short.

     Just imagine a 3-year-old pointing at the image and asking you: "What's that?"

     @killyourfm Be brief, talk about what's relevant to you. Context is key; what do you care about in the image. If there's relevant text in the image, describe that. And don't put in info that sighted users don't know (ie. "me and joe at the lake last september" or "made with midjourney") captions should be in visible text, not in alt.

     Ask community for a description (there was an abbreviation for it. !B if I recall correctly)
