@SuperDicq @ricardo just to add that most of their reports are made with proprietary software as well. The Linux foundation is just as many of others "foundations". Just a lie.

vic (vic@seal.cafe)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Nov-2024 11:08:32 JST vic @ins0mniak @p There's a very common misconception that "all code written in Rust is correct" when in reality, the only people who bother writing Rust will also take the time to get it right. The only reason Rust has even been able to stick around as a language is because of autistic trannies who do it for free.
Forcing Rust on paid developers is a recipe for disaster. -

Chucho :artix: (jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza)'s status on Saturday, 09-Nov-2024 06:59:27 JST Chucho :artix: I bought a couple of Solo2 keys and I have to admit that I'm very disappointed. I clearly made a mistake because I bought the keys without checking the GitHub repository, when I did that I realized that the project was kind of dead. Today I have problems compiling the tool in rust and the binary version isn't working at all.
What I still find irresponsible is that in the official webpage they keep selling these keys when they clearly are not updating the firmware and they are not even updating the tool for more than a year.
I guess I might need to check Nitrokeys, the software and the project seems to be in better shape.

But I think you and I agree with the point of the report, I wouldn't want to be either Stallman or Drew Devault at this moment.

Chucho :artix: (jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza)'s status on Saturday, 19-Oct-2024 19:36:32 JST Chucho :artix: @SuperDicq I read this link:
https://hub.fosstodon.org/coc/
Which contains more information, but I also read the non-goals. This is one of the "non-goals":
"An advocacy space. There are many important, controversial and political issues; and advocating for what you believe is important. However, Fosstodon is not the place for that advocacy. Even correct views can violate our CoC."
Which points that DDevault should not be in that instance.
If fosstodon is a serious instance they should enforce their COC, if they don't It clearly proves to me that COC have been being used as weapons to silence people who don't agree with them and if that happens I would say that COC are useless.

I just want to check if the COC works on everyone or just to the people who agree with them.

This is the second time this guy forces a controversial topic dividing the community more than it already is insisting with the same topic every year.

Chucho :artix: (jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza)'s status on Tuesday, 15-Oct-2024 02:33:40 JST Chucho :artix: @SuperDicq I never understood that logic from that people. In 2017 I asked myself:
"Why do people like Trump have a chance to govern the most powerful country?"
Then I read people like DDevault and now I understood why.
I see polarization in my country but the USA level is so ridiculous. Just read people's opinions and they have to choose their words so carefully because they could perfectly be tagged by an idiot.
Poor them, they believe their "first world" problems are the worst that humanity is facing.

I saw many use cases where companies have problems of money because the cloud is expensive and even worse the loss of control.

Seriously, WTF with this world?

Those commercial projects with "permissive licenses", tend to do the same. I don't think "permissive licenses" are devils but I think most companies are devils.
I don't think copyleft licenses solve everything, because it's still possible to turn a project into proprietary crap but it's more difficult to do so. When I choose a software to use I always prioritize if it's libre first and then I prioritize copyleft licenses and community driven ones

I reported a bug and I sent a patch to add a package but I still struggle in many basic stuffs. I guess I will install Parabola GNU/Linux-libre and I will use guix as a complement package manager. I'm not 100% sure about this switch yet.
