Please someone who has some free time than me write a report on all of the embarrassing shit Drew has said in the past 20 years and put it on drewdevault-report.org (domain is available)
Please God let this happen because it would be so fucking funny
@david@hollow.raccoon.quest It has been fully confirmed that the "anonymous" stallman-report.org has been written by Drew Devault. He has a blog on drewdevault.com and is the owner of sourcehut.org
@meso@the.asbestos.cafe Please only do this if you intend to write an actual serious report on everything harmful and insincere Drew has done to the free software movement.
If you buy the domain and just put up a random offensive shitpost you will only help to prove his point.
@meso@the.asbestos.cafe Like I am actually unable to buy this right now because I had to buy a new car this month and I am still waiting on insurance payouts and on of my clients to pay one of my invoices. I currently have 20 euros to buy food for the rest of the week.
@SuperDicq I reported to @fosstodon because it's clearly violating the COC . This is the second time this guy forces a controversial topic dividing the community more than it already is insisting with the same topic every year.
@jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza I don't know if getting Drew banned from Fosstodon will achieve anything tho. Feels like you're just trying to silence him.
@xianc78@gameliberty.club@phnt@fluffytail.org The only thing I still keep up with is Christory, I have like a chronic addiction or something. But I try to make really sure to just look at it from a neutral point of view nowadays without getting involved in any of it.
@SuperDicq it is not going to change anything and I don't want him to be silenced, in the worst case he will just receive a warning. I just want to check if the COC works on everyone or just to the people who agree with them.
@jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza Personally I'm not going to report Drew, because my instances do not have rules like this and I think rules like this are stupid anyway.
For example:Do not “shitpost” - while humorous posts are allowed, and actually encouraged, there is no place for “shitposting” on Fosstodon. What is the difference between a "humorous post" and a "shitpost".? Who decides this?
Which contains more information, but I also read the non-goals. This is one of the "non-goals":
"An advocacy space. There are many important, controversial and political issues; and advocating for what you believe is important. However, Fosstodon is not the place for that advocacy. Even correct views can violate our CoC."
Which points that DDevault should not be in that instance.
If fosstodon is a serious instance they should enforce their COC, if they don't It clearly proves to me that COC have been being used as weapons to silence people who don't agree with them and if that happens I would say that COC are useless.
@jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza I really don't like the notion of "correct views". There are no correct and incorrect views. That's the entire point of opinion.
But it is technically true according to this CoC whatever Drew is doing is supposed to be considered out of line.
Fosstodon might cave in and eventually ban the "Stallman report" account, and *maybe* give a warning to Drew, but seems unlikely.
And that's for creating a shitstorm of enormous proportions like this. In contrast, I'm a relative nobody and my article was maybe seen by a handful of people.
The silencing of dissenters, and the abuse of CoCs to mask it as "just following the rules," is very real.
@jeff@mk.magicka.org You know I personally have nothing against lolicons but it is quite hypocritical to then criticize someone for having "problematic" opinions.
@jrballesteros05@social.linux.pizza I don't agree with everything in this like saying liking being lolicon is the same as being a pedophile and calling it "drawn child pornography", especially because it links to the Wikipedia article on lolicon which says otherwise.
I do think it's good to not censor the images, but putting them behind a content warning. This will let people see really what this stuff is about, adds shock value for the normies.
Personally I would like it if they did the same scummy tactics as the original Stallman report did, just to prove a point how ridiculous it was. Like making a table where they count every single statement and categorize them to make up some scary sounding total number of infractions.
Also I would like it if this report would conclude with completely unreasonable demands just like the original such as calling out other people associated with Drew, like Conrad Hoffman and asked for them to apologize as well. And to top it off a report like this should really specifically mentions organizations like Fosdem, CCC, NLNet Foundation, etc. to fully boycott Drew.
Overall pretty good report and this it definitely does the job of getting the message across to the cancel crowd.
If there's any place on the internet where you don't want your name to show up it's here.
It's like you're done now. You have joined the ranks of ChrisChan and DarkSydePhil. You'll never have a normal life in the eyes of the public ever again.
@SuperDicq@jeff From what I observed, either he's in cahoot with a bunch of people, or he's following a trend and is just being a nuisance for attention. This is why SJW behavior shouldn't be acceptable, it's either corruption, a useful idiot helping someone else's corruption and/or just plain destructive behavior for virtue signaling brownie points (With a very strong chances of skeletons being in that closet)
maybe it would be funny, and there would probably be plenty of material for such a website, but drew is maladjusted in his pathologically obsessive persecution and projection of misbehaviors onto his chosen target. it's like he lives in an alternate reality in which the echos of abuses he presumably underwent or witnessed haunt him and push him past the breaking point and away from reality. he's doing major injustice and misleading people, but he needs help to overcome this obsession and put his brilliance to good uses.
anyone who has done or is considering doing such a thing, please <mailto:oliva@gnu.org> and let's talk it over privately, to best serve the free software movement. thanks,
