I refuse to blindly accept that college student protesters are violent. It makes no sense and that would be an extraordinary claim. There has been no legit evidence of that. Instead, I see propaganda and bullshit in the media for clicks - a well established behavior of news orgs and local officials.
I'm looking for a post I saw last night. Why, when I search for a word I know was in it, I only get search results starting from two months ago! #Mastodon
Jetpack suddenly turned off my basic stats in Wordpress. What the hell? They seem to have decided I'm a business and need to pay. So I have no stats available on self-hosted #Wordpress now?!
Tom Nichols of @TheAtlantic blew it in this piece when he said (about Twitter): "The people who leave annoy me.. You don’t solve anything by going anywhere. You stay and you voice your objections"
Totally wrong. By staying and complaining (or just existing) you are propping up an awful, ruined platform run by a jerk. It's naive to think you are changing anything by staying. Only by strongly rejecting the nonsense by leaving do you make a point.
My husband gave me his Fitbit to wear. It feels weird for everyone who looks at my wrist to see I’m tracking all this stuff. I used one of my alternative Google accounts because it’s really a turn off to think of sharing such personal data with them. Not convinced it’s going to be helpful.
This fucking guy thinks he’s been called by his supernatural deity to be a hero. What an egotistical, overweening, pompous dumbass. Religion rots government for and by the people. That’s why our founders kept it out. This doofus didn’t learn that basic stuff about US history.
I don't really care as much about where journalists, government agencies, public entities, and celebrities go, as long as they remove themselves from Xitter. Make that platform desolate and ignored. That's what I want.
@ArtBear I'm no fan of the others. I won't join Threads, Instagram, or the partisan platforms. I also think Bluesky will suffer from enshittification but those who went there have their heads in the sand about it - they didn't learn anything. But I think the main goal is to stop Xitter from getting the attention it still attracts. It needs to die. I'm flabbergasted that people are still on there.
@feditips I figured out how to follow myself on mstdn.social from kbin and the tagged posts on mastodon now appear in the kbin magazine microblog feed.
Everyday on the #fediverse reveals something new and exciting. I found myself on Kbin today - a reddit alternative. I wish more people would come on over and away from the bigger platforms which are ruined.
