@aral I just watched your video on the kitten homepage. I'm impressed! with both your style and content.

My experience as a developer is very old (procedural languages) long before html, css, js, etc. were in use.

I'm retired and tinker with software/hardware. I've avoided web based stuff - too much concern about attracting eyeballs and not enough about providing useful content.

I'll be looking into kitten much more along with digging out my html, css, and js books.

@RamenCatholic I've suffered thru them a few times. When they strike the pain is debilitating, severe, and immediate. Once they leave the body it's as though they were never there.

They appear to be a tiny grain of sand (though they can be quite large). The small ones have spikes all over them. Kidney stones cause unbelievable pain.

@Subumbral Me too. I wonder if the average American knows something huge just happened in the UK and in France. I'm anxious to see what happens in Canada.

@bmacDonald94 It's not possible to get thru to those that will not listen. Don't waste your breath (read: time) use that time to talk with the undecided, and the Democrats that are being swayed because they found out that Biden isn't perfect.

Biden isn't killing anyone just as those selling ammunition to nut case mass shooters didn't do anything.

#Retirement means many different things to different people. It changes your #perspective. It doesn't solve all your #problems. It doesn't free you of #responsibility or #obligations. You have more choice than before when it comes to setting #priorities. Eventually, you'll have many more #doctor visits. Life is fragile.

Treat people the way you want others to treat you. Resist the urge to stick it to "them" before "they" stick it to you.

@Hunterrules0_o @fsf "Legitimate interest" sounds so innocent. It isn't. It sounds so clear and upfront. It isn't.

Open source isn't perfect, but when something in it is abused (exploited) action is taken by the community to inform the public and block the exploitation. Can that be said of proprietary software?

@aral Does Ireland have Credit Unions (owned by members, for members, and not-for-profit)? Same concept as cooperatives only it's banking instead of product.

@aral Their loss. Don't let a server name throw you. An instance name is nothing more than a unique identifier.

@atomicpoet @matt Yes, but for those that don't have constant access to the internet (or any access at all) use more primitve means to move information: sneakernet, mesh networks, etc.

Sneakernet on it's own isn't reliable (interception, changing messages, etc.)

Hopefully SSB won't remain unmaintained. The Fediverse is cool and all, but only available if you have internet access. SSB can work when no electronic network at all is available.

@atomicpoet @fediversenews I'm very sorry this has happened. Maybe someone will pick it up and carry on. SSB and Manyverse filled a gap (some people still depend on sneakernet). Manyverse isn't the only app of it's kind, but it is available where others are not.

SSB however, that's huge. I've only used Scuttlebutt a few times and I was just learning about it, but it seems to me Secure Scuttlebutt is at the heart of this set of apps.
