Vocês conheciam a iniciativa IndieWeb?! Interessante demais!

Marquem pessoas q possam gostar dessa iniciativa :catjam: :boost: :blobcatfavboost:

    Princípios-chave do IndieWeb incluem:

    Padrões Abertos do IndieWeb

      IndieWeb
IndieWeb is a community of people building software to enable personal independently hosted websites to maintain their social data on their own web domains rather than on large, centralized social networking services. It was first developed at a series of conferences known as IndieWebCamp by Tantek Çelik, Amber Case, Aaron Parecki, Crystal Beasley and Kevin Marks. It uses a suite of tools including Webmention and microformats to decentralize social communication and distribution of content. The IndieWeb is based on 10 core principles: Own your data. Use & publish visible data for humans first, machines second. Make what you need. Use what you make. Document your stuff. Open source your stuff. UX and design is more important than protocols, formats, data models, schema etc. Modularity. Longevity. Plurality. and an informal eleventh: "Above all, Have fun." Love watching Reddit decide, unforced, to torch their entire brand and supposed values in one fell swoop. Fuck that entire site and fuck it's "leadership." You grew on the backs of millions of users only to become what we all tried to escape from, and I can't wait to watch it crash into the ground. It'll be more comical than the Digg implosion when it happens.

Anyway, use Federated services like #Lemmy and #Kbin everyone and starve Steve Huffman's golden goose.

#Piefed (#Reddit alternative), and #Lemmy and #MBIN alternative too, has added a nice new feature called "Feeds" which is like multi-reddit. You can create your own public feeds by combining a number of communities together. People on any other Piefed instance can subscribe to your feed.

If you're interested in using Piefed as a Reddit alternative, or checking out this feature, I run a public instance, https://feddit.online. You can see all Piefed server choices at https://join.piefed.social/try/

The amount of anarchists and tankies on #Lemmy is just awful. Given there's also no 'official' app for it (or #Mbin for that matter) there's no way that platform will ever become popular.

Probably doomed from the start, given the devs are political extremists themselves. Perhaps Mbin can create something good and accessible in the long run.

It’s so bloody funny how people on both #Mastodon and #Lemmy are hostile about interacting with each other, yet often don’t realize they’re actually interacting with each other.

I mean, that literally just happened in this thread about how to use Mastodon to interact with Lemmy. 🤣

You know what's cool about the fediverse? Unlike most social media platforms, it exists largely outside of the USA. The 3 largest fediverse platforms were created by 2 germans and 1 canadian. Not just that, but you have people like @aral@mastodon.ar.al building https://small-tech.org/ and dozens of other builders across the world. The fediverse knows no borders, and in dire times like these, will become increasingly important. I wish I could say the same for Bluesky.

A nice feature for @surf would be support for group actors. This would allow people to more easily follow posts from #Lemmy, #Mbin, #Piefed, and #NodeBB.

Groups are also way more deliberately topical than hashtags, which assists greatly with social discovery.

It’s true. I’m retiring @fediversenews, and have created @fediversenews as its successor.

I used to post constantly to that #Friendica group. However, I am incredibly pleased with the moderation toolkit of #Piefed, so it only makes sense to use that software instead.

For those who don’t know, Piefed is a #Reddit-like platform – similar to #Lemmy and #Mbin – but I feel it has amongst the best community management tools of the federated Reddit-like platforms. So I am thrilled to be migrating an old community over to Piefed.

Oh yeah, and I’m looking for moderators. So if this interests you, let me know.

"if you're interested in _______, join our fedi server where we talk about _______ etc."

yea no. an #ActivityPub server is not a community. it's a portal to the whole network that hopefully provides you a nice name but should primarily be chosen for its mod policy and cause you like/trust the owners. one personal account and maybe eventually another one for work, school etc. #SocialWeb

but people have lots of interests and those each deserve their own private group. via #matrix or #lemmy etc.

Discovering the #fediverse gives me the same feelings #linux did years ago. The endless choice, excitement of discovery, clash of philosophies and a community.

I spent years #distrohopping from #ubuntu , #arch , #voidlinux , #nixos etc and then back to arch. Also spent a long time switching desktop environments and window managers like i3.

I started on #lemmy and #mastodon . What do I try next? #selfhost an #activitypub server? Which one?
