    Hey @p :

I want to bounce this idea off of you. Hard for me to articulate it at the moment because its just flashes of imagery in my brain....

    Illustration:

There is this greedy fat phuq of a dude. Loves to eat. Fave restaurant is McDs.

McD (and competing fast-food joints) start creating this new technology that creates food super fast. Like the replicator in Star Trek. So now what happens is, this junk food can be created to match his desired rate of consumption.

The technology spreads, and now they are using it to feed the homeless, poor kids in continents, bla bla bla.

But now, everyone is a fat phuq and they are dying because no one thought about the biological and social consequences (plus environmental impact) of this fast-food creating replicator technology.

    Application:

I think this happening in AI now. AI tech tools are replicators, everyone greedy for fast-food (governments, big tech, solopreneurs trying to automate away everything) are the fat phuq guys. BUT, hardly anyone is taking into about side effects and physical limits.

As the human body can only take in so much food at a time before dying from a plethora of digestive and nutritional problems, so too humans and their systems can only ingest so much AI alleviation and automation before foreseen and unforeseen negative effects happen.

Researchers are already talking about diminished brain use amongst people, environmental effects of large data centers and so on. Yet, this is drowned out by the more obvious benefits of AI tech (speed, convenience, agents bla bla bla).

    Conclusion:
This is an interesting time to be alive. Damned if you use AI, damned if you don't. But I think the key to being prosperous, or protecting your humanity and sanity at the very least, is do make sure everyday you are doing something that keeps up your AI fluency while also keeping in mind your human well-being.

To that end, I am forcing myself daily to do projects in Rust without AI, and (my dream of a hobby farm is not yet realized) I am growing Roma tomatoes hydroponically. I had to repot my biggest one in soil because I had NO idea how crazy the water roots get. It's like white dreadlocks in the water tank below my hydroponics system. I think my future plants will be strawberries. I just started these 4 weeks ago because I wanna offset food costs, but man it's 10 times more fun then I thought it would be.
