Anyone here ever been a freemason? I know someone who's considering joining and was curious about real world experience.

This. I almost joined but didn’t. Still to this day, membership in Freemasons means you are excommunicated from Orthodox or Catholic Church. I believe the churches now let you renounce Masonic membership, unlike the days of old.

@tj my dad was a master mason, I read their books. I have a couple buddies at work who are also masons.

I personally would never join because what they believe is incompatible with the Christian faith, but intentionally designed not to look like it is (IMO).

Practically it’s a lot like the Rotary club or Lion’s club most of the time.

The historical reason for the ban is likely a mix of known occult practices and fifth column involvement. Power brokers met there and because it was outside the domain of the church and crown It became a meeting place for genuine conspiracies. Never forget America was founded by a Masonic conspiracy.

      afaik (never been a mason)

superficially - for most it's an old man's drinking club with a twist.

however it's a form of luciferianism. you will do occult rituals and pledge curses on yourself. would not recommend messing around with such things even if you "don't believe it"

@BowsacNoodle oh they have legitimately occultic beliefs.

As far as I can tell all secret societies rely on in-group transgressions to establish identity and ensure group loyalty.

There seem to be 2 types of fraternal orders operating in the world today. Those that go with the above “Secret Soceity” approach and those that are blatant pyramid schemes.

Something tells me that any well-meaning group of like-minded men would soon be infiltrated and turned into one of the above.

@BowsacNoodle I guess that is fair.

There are some that are just drinking clubs.

The VFW for example, or the Eagles.

The Shriners are not the “drinking club and charity” types, although they do a good job of that outward image.

I’m not familiar with the Shriners crimes. I know the moose and elks and eagles seem normal. Knights of Columbus seem based. I’ve heard there’s an Orthodox KoC equivalent too that’s probably fine but is constantly watched by glowniggers.

My dad, Uber-Boomer-Prime (not a boomer in age, but in foolish worldview), grew up in poverty. He's agnostic, talks only about money and how to get it (all the false promise ways you'd hear on FOX), and sees the world as a game one can win, "if one is in." He made it to the upper half of middle class by the time I was out of high school.

He wanted me to get into golf, Masons, MENSA (? lol), and so on, growing up--"where business deals happen. You need to get into that culture." So I was in the Order of DeMolay growing up. (Masons for those below 21, 20, 19, 18--depending on the state.)

When ourguys say it's Judaism for goyim, they've got the pulse of it.
Enlightment-lens humanitarian ethics wrapped in mystery rituals interrupting a (primarily) social club.

(No, I'm not in it. I dropped out of DeMolay the day I could, before the cut-off age. I hated every adult there, in a way that made me sad.)

Networking via business clubs / orgs is for disingenuous nigger cattle. If you want to live a fake and gay life and pat yourself on the back for being successful at being fake and gay, go for it I guess. 🤷♂️

I was friends with frat bros. They’re often very good dudes. It gives gentiles a networking group, which is why it’s scandalized by the usual suspects. Not that there aren’t issues conceptually or otherwise.

      >a fraternity

      🤣
You've got a bead on it. He pressed endlessly for me to join a fraternity, too

I talked to them. Didn't join. There came a point where I had to (sadly) keep my dad out of my affairs for some years. He probably could have given me better advice for some parts during that time (I was young, so of course), but I needed his "He won't mind if I sign him up for this, drop him out of this" and so on overreach away.

@Ash_Kvetchum @Jagahati @BowsacNoodle @leespringfield1903 I laughed and got into a few drunken scrapes saying fraternities were for guys who had to buy friends with daddy's credit card

They did manage to monkey branch themselves into well paying stuffed shirt business jobs though so who's laughing now

Your dad probably fears you being back in poverty which is why he thinks adopting higher class rituals will prevent it.

I sometimes personally think joining a fraternity back in university would have made it easier for me to find a better job.
