@lain remember when the soyientists deboonked their own theory about serotonin and the mechanism of action behind SSRIs? https://www.nature.com/articles/s41380-022-01661-0

Psychopharmacology is a giant fucking shrug-a-thon. Just a bunch of pseudo-scientists standing in a circle shrugging at each other and nodding.

Nope. Not if you know what you're doing. The difference is gate keeping. There's no doctor or big pharma between you and an otc supplement.

To the extent it's "snake oil", user ignorance isn't my problem, except to the extent that big pharma has spread that myth in order to undermine self-determination.

Tldr; don't repeat big pharma talking points.

How can you say, "it's not a snake oil if you know what you're doing"?

The whole meaning of snake oil is that people sell bullshit. Yes, technically supplements are the thing labelled on the back, but they're often sold to people who don't need them and who it'll have very little effect for. And the people selling them also often exaggerate the results of taking them.

You're delusional to think that actual drugs don't work, but supplements do. Also, what proof do you even have that big pharma is attempting to ban supplements? This is just classic "they suppress our medicine..." tier conspiratard bullshit.

Whether something is "snake oil" depends on "knowledge", which you admit. You also impliedly admit that we now have knowledge readily available, which actually makes it not "snake oil" to those who investigate. Thanks for literally repeating exactly what I said.

I never said "drugs" don't work. I never said they "do". That's a drug by drug analysis. Your reading comprehension may be lacking.

You added nothing to this conversation. You're delusional if you think you did.

He's going to have to say because information is accessible that establishes it as a fact.

So he proves it's not snake oil, but rather user ignorance, as I originally stated.

He also demonstrates that the supplement market is self-regulating. Information cab be produced by market actors and even normal people and is available at time of purchase. People are able to review it.

What isn't available is peer review research regarding patented drugs. Most patented drugs are merely tested by the companies slinging them and their crony scientists. Thus, the patented drug market is not self-regulating.

@Humpleupagus @crunklord420 @lain @VIPPER @yomiel that’s not to say that there’s not a lot of bullshit floating around regarding supplements, of course

the problem is that we exist in an epistemic vacuum these days: the sources of knowledge that you should be able to trust have been caught red-handed and utterly unrepentant in monumental and self-serving Big Lies, so you have absolutely no useful landmarks to navigate this landscape

when your trust anchors tell you that you need to have sixteen shots of ZOG Fluid in order to leave your house unless you’re a nigger going out to riot (in which case it’s okay and you’re immune to the coof), then you’re kind of left to find out what’s actually good on your own, which entails a certain amount of personal experimentation and N=1 scenarios

You can literally grab the most any "blend" supplement and look up the listed ingredients and related studies online. There are entire sites dedicated to such research that haven't been captured. So I think the days of some guy in a horse drawn carriage selling "snake oil" to rubes is not an accurate analogy.

Amphetine can't be patented, so they change it. It's safer the way.

DMAE is another example of a substance that can help some kids with "adhd", especially in combination with omega three, that can't be patented. So some company bound both and patented it.

Doctors can't even recommend supplements at all. They can't even tell you to take vitamin b1 for example. I have a family member who's deficient. The doctor had to source a "medical grade" source in order to "prescribe" it. Between malpractice insurers and board regulations, the entire industry is a joke.

Big pharma promoted trannies and child genital mutilation. Therefore big pharma must be met with skepticism, until proven otherwise.

At least you can press & catch the humanly decent ones on it... male ARNP for son's flu diagnosis 2 days ago tried to give me Tamiflu & I said "but that's bullshit, right?"

      'Yes, it really mostly is...'
Also Tylenol over Motrin (always, they always go there) & I said but the latter is better, innit?? 'Yes... yes, it is...'

And who needs treatment for a 100 degree fever??

What boggles my mind is that in most states you can't get blood labs without a doctors order. You're literally prohibited from determining the level of substances in your blood unless a doctor allows it. Arizona is one exception.

The analogy I always use is imagine if your couldn't buy a car unless a lawyer thought the purchase / financing agreements were beneficial to you. That would be bizarre to us.

How one Order / Guild grabbed this much control is just strange. This is literally a creature of the 20th century. It didn't exist in this governmental form prior to then.

      > Polio

Boomer tier. No one is dying of polio as long as they don't get vaxxed. The last polio outbreak was due up the Gates Foundation and Rotary testing a novel vaccine in Africa. There was a similar outbreak in India, but they covered that up.

Tldr: Vaccines are the leading cause of polio in the modern era.

@Humpleupagus @crunklord420 @Starprophet @lain @VIPPER @yomiel yeah, a great way to not have polio problems is “don’t import people from shitholes who carry polio”

why, if we had a habit of simply not bringing in plague-carriers from foreign shitholes, we could defer basically all vaccination campaigns until kids were teenagers, and possibly later

      wouldn’t that be nice?

Yeah. I'm up to my 22nd shot. Due for another this month, actually. At first, my balls shrank and my sperm died, but now the reverse has happened. My balls are thrice their original size and so is my heart, allowing my body to pump thrice the blood as well. I'm basically becoming super human.

@Escoffier @crunklord420 @Humpleupagus @lain @VIPPER well, it isn’t actually possible (or wise to attempt) to consume enough food to attain the desired levels of certain things

this is Linus Pauling’s critique of the “RDA” concept: we can identify low levels of some nutrients that seem to correlate reliably with certain disease states (deficiency), and high levels of those nutrients that correlate with certain other disease states (toxicity), but we have absolutely no idea what an “optimal” level of those nutrients actually is

the “RDA” for Vitamin C, for example, does one thing for you: “reduces your statistical likelihood of developing clinically-detectable scurvy to negligible levels in the long term”

that isn’t quite the same thing as “maintaining a level of ascorbate in the body capable of supporting at optimal levels all biochemical processes that demand it”

Well, if I do say so myself... lol, I adore homeopathy, personally. Many herbs & supps, though.

Turns out White people actually knew quite a bit about medicine even before Rockefeller thought it charitable to give us petrol pharmaceuticals controlled by only his elite investment club (aka "the healthcare industry.") I've used Camillia baby teething vials to all but numb my gums post-dentist once. Almost everyone could benefit from zinc picolinate or liquid zinc sulfate supplementation.
