@eris Christian historians you say? Interesting. Here's some non-Christian sources:
Tacitus (Roman historian, 56-120 AD): Mentioned Jesus in his Roman history account, Annals, as a real person who was executed by Pontius Pilate.
Josephus (Jewish historian, 37-100 AD): Wrote about Jesus in his Antiquities of the Jews, although the passage was later interpolated by Christian scribes.
Suetonius (Roman historian, 69-122 AD): Mentioned Jesus in his The Twelve Caesars, which describes the Roman Emperor Claudius's expulsion of Jews from Rome, citing "Christus" as the reason.
Pliny the Younger (Roman administrator, 61-113 AD): Wrote about the early Christian community in his letters to the Roman Emperor Trajan, which demonstrate that Jesus was a real person.
Celsus (Greek philosopher, 2nd century AD): Mentioned Jesus in his book "The True Word", which is a critique of Christianity.
Thallus (Greek historian, 1st century AD): Mentioned a solar eclipse that occurred during the crucifixion of Jesus in his History of the World.
Phlegon of Tralles (Greek historian, 1st century AD): Mentioned a solar eclipse and an earthquake that occurred during the crucifixion of Jesus in his Olympiads.
@eris@BowsacNoodle " It aims to elevate the consciousness of the worshipper into that of the deity, ultimately leading to an experience of union with the Ultimate Reality or Consciousness."
@BowsacNoodle@agaperealm you just have to consider. enlightenment. being the best ever. christians dont even have it in their religion. they are a slave religion.
@eris Yet Muslims also have an empty tomb for Jesus because they believe He will return, slay God's enemies, and rule the Earth until mortal death. You have now moved the goal post from "never existed" to "wasn't crucified" and been proven wrong both times. Shall we continue?
@eris@BowsacNoodle MUSLIMS SAY THAT AS HE WAS ABOUT TO BE CRUCIFIED, AN ANGEL SWAPPED HIM OUT FOR A SIMILAR LOOKIN DUDE AND TOOK THE REAL JESUS UP TO HEAVEN IN THE FLESH
@eris@BowsacNoodle WE GOT EVERY KIND OF DUDE ON THIS STUPID WEBZONE COMING OUT TO SAY THAT THE ROMAN EMPIRE NEVER EXISTED, OR THERE'S NO PROOF OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, OR THAT TARTARIANS BUILT THE STARFORTS
@eris >Goalpost moved again Sorry for your loss. It didn't have to come to this. You don't even follow me. You chose to enter a thread about something you don't agree with, and you lost. I WILL pray for you, specifically, today after liturgy.
@eris@BowsacNoodle The pathology of the weaknesses in Christianity, just like all religions, exposes the inherent sin of man. You're mad at the wrong thing.
Not being familiar with Sri Vidya I asked Brave AI to describe it and it came back with some of the things I would have expected, including the part I poasted above which aligns with the core of what Christianity is supposed to be about.
Here's the thing. You had to tell me about Sri Vidya. You don't have to tell anyone about Christianity because everyone knows what it is. It is the religion that formed the moral fabric of the [White] people who have created all civilized societies. Sri Vidya is practiced by a nation of people, who after 5,000 years of history still shit in the streets. If that's a gap that Sri Vidya can't help close then it's not for me.
@eris@agaperealm I feel like I've heard that before... Romans 2:15 (Amplified Bible){expounded text is useful for this particular example} >They show that the essential requirements of the Law are written in their hearts; and their conscience [their sense of right and wrong, their moral choices] bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or perhaps defending them
@Marakus@eris Of course! Pray for God to soften their heart, that He will open their eyes and lear them to repentance and Truth, and that He will use them to bring about His glory.
@eris@DC5FAN@Marakus Nations (root word: ethnos) are preserved in heaven. Revelation 7:9 (NKJV) >After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands
@BowsacNoodle@eris We have emotions written into us. Love, loss, hurt. From those we can form ideas about what is right and wrong. A religion, like Christianity, can codify laws/rules based on love, loss, hurt (the feelings written into us). I'm probably splitting hairs here but the idea that someone is born knowing that shitting on the street is wrong doesn't seem reasonable. Understanding the loss of personal and cultural dignity by shitting in the streets does make sense to me.
@agaperealm@eris The law regarding general high morality— don't do wrong unto others directly or indirectly. There are nuances to both of those, particularly the latter, wherein things like rampant pollution might not be so obvious to certain people. Nevertheless, even the most primitive peoples USUALLY understand not to 💩 where you drink water.
@eris@BowsacNoodle since you studied, then tell me about the things that the Bible teaches that contradicts a different part, where the overall "wisdom" of it is inconsistent, or where it doesn't add up. it is a collection of books written by a lot of different people in vastly different times, and seeing as you think it isn't the truth then it must mean that it has inconsistencies or at least a little incoherence with it.
also tell me about the aspects of the Lords teachings that cannot be explained/elaborated that doesn't tie back to the general human experience, or tell me how the bibles teachings are outdated?
both of us never met Jesus in the Flesh, so neither of us have "proof" that he either exists or doesn't exist.
btw did you know the bible specifically mentions this?
Matthew 16:4
"An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.
@BowsacNoodle@eris@Marakus Praise the Lord! I had grown up never knowing about Christ, just hearing about him every now and then, but never really thinking of him much.
When i reached a breaking point of sin and hopelessness in my life, God gave me a taste of his Love, and it's so beautiful, it is so amazing i can't even imagine how i lived like that anymore, i remember it but it feels so alien now, it's like i knew for my entire Life God was there and that he loved me, i just failed to see it back then.
Picrel, this is how Baptism in the Holy Spirit feels like
@nine2fivestudio Hilarious that someone chose to enter a thread about something they disagree with and are now malding while moving the goalposts. I hope you have a great Sunday friend
@BowsacNoodle an old jewish couple did this to me once. It was like I'd told them I would kill their firstborn. I've never seen someone get so angry and pugnacious so quickly.
@Xenophon@eris@BowsacNoodle also i had hopes fro other things but sometimes shit jsut ain't ognna happen, and my mom won't die till i'm in my 60s at least so who cares.
no i hope you raise your prices and buy chicken feed in bulk so that you increase your profit margins, then save up some cash so that when your mom is gone you'll be able to live a nice little life off your fowl business.
