     @KingOfWhiteAmerica He's extremely conservative. There was a point of contention with his criticism of Francis in his book, with a forward by Pope emeritus Benedict, wherein the cloistered former Pope's writings were removed and Sarah stepped down from his position. I am fuzzy on the details, but, from a purely religious aspect, Cardinal Sarah appears to be a very traditional anti-modernist guy. We can all have opinions over whether an African can or should be made Bishop of Rome, but I will continue to respect the man for what I have seen from him.

     @KingOfWhiteAmerica I'm going to sound like a boomer conservative here, but I don't believe his race has anything to do with it. I'm unfamiliar with a lot of names on that list, but I do know Cardinal Sarah. I know of him enough to doubt that he'd seriously be picked for the papacy because of his beliefs. As an Eastern Catholic, the Pope is not someone I pay much attention to. I am functionally Orthodox in communion with Rome, and that doesn't change regardless of who is in Rome. Unless Rome gets too crazy, which actually would cause me to begome xDDD.

You'll get people who claim (retardedly) "ALWAYS HAS BEEN" which ignores the bulk of history of a Christendom and the geopolitical conditions (Turks, Huns, etc.) which led to the schism and power consolidation by Rome. Arguments that it was necessary or arguments that it was a power grab both have legs, but it certainly is a reality that the Christian church has had internal and external enemies since its inception.

     Wrong. What did the early church do? Public confessions were a thing. Also apostolic succession to the same Apostles which Christ said (John 20:22-23) (22And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”)
     Also Catholics pray to God directly including for forgiveness sins, but see above. A lot of confession is spiritual counseling. Catholics don't worship Mary. Much of what you think you know about Catholics is wrong, but that's not your fault.

     Not sure I agree they're Christians. Their entire higherarchy demonstrates a lack of understanding of Jesus' death and resurrection. The curtain that lead to the Holy of Holies tore in half the moment Jesus died because at that moment the old covenant ended and we didn't need to go through a priest to speak directly to God. Catholics, having failed to understand that, have missed the entire point and resemble more the ancient Jewish religion than Christianity. Confused idolitors like the Hebrews post Egypt. Muh Mary

     @KingOfWhiteAmerica @mitchconner It's tough because I like the concept, but I agree. Too many "Christians" are very a la carte with which parts of Christian tradition, including The Bible, that they keep to. Not good!
     
     For the sola scriptura gang— you literally cannot get a better abridged guide to the faith than The Bible, so I have no issue conceptually if that's you. Just don't proof-text and also use your brain and heart and guidance from The Holy Spirit and test any guidance you feel you're receiving, including by fellowship and prayer with fellow believers. I can't stand low tier arguments that I've actually encountered in real life.

     @IlDuWuce @mitchconner @KingOfWhiteAmerica Eastern Catholic churches are fairly insulated from what happens in Rome. It will vary depending on church and eparchy, but generally they are hugely traditional and liturgy is always the focus. It's in full communion with Rome too, so you're fulfilling obligations and allowed to receive as a newcomer. No leity serve the Eucharist and it's directly to the mouth via consecrated spoon. If you enjoy traditional Latin mass, you'll likely appreciate The Divine Liturgy Of Saint John Chrysostom.

     Our only plan now, is to act outside of the papal jurisdictions through Holy Tradition with organizations like Pius X. The only issue with this is, that we're stuck in the 1950s. Of course this is not as bad had current year, but modernism had its first victory around this time. Fasting is as good as dead, and depending on the country even Pius X is pretty liberal, just with a good liturgy.
