this is one of those things I can't get past. Looking down on people who create stuff is like nails on the chalkboard - dilbert 1 likes this.

@sickburnbro I understand why they do it, but I hate it. In my lifetime, I saw multiple cuts to white and blue collar incomes as the economy continued to outsource manufacturing, consolidated sales, and replaced relationships and quality with services and fee based contracts. For a while, you could be insulated from the worst effects if you worked in specific areas like parts of IT and healthcare. Now, it's coming for everyone, yet for the past 10-20 years, actual tradesmen have had higher real wealth than the people who "do things the right way" according to bourgeois strivers. If you don't get into a D1 or better school, your BA means very little in most places. Meanwhile people who joined a trade union out of highschool got paid to learn a trade, and most of them got solid jobs right away. Bread up, Bro likes this. -

@sickburnbro Most of my jobs have been because of friends. I always try to make friends in any company I work at, not because I have selfish motives, but because it's who I am. It just so happens that a lot of times those people end up being ones I can call if I'm looking for a new employee or looking to change where I work. Bread up, Bro likes this. -

@The_Almighty_Kek @sickburnbro Very wise TBH. Having a degree just means you are capable of completing a thing. The cheapest sketchiest school is about as valuable as the best school from the average hiring perspective. I've had great employees who had degrees from University of Phoenix and ITT tech for example. Bread up, Bro likes this. -

I did get a 2-year from a community college, but ultimately even that was for nothing. It wasn't going to be worth it for me to go into gobs of debt to continue to a university.

@sickburnbro >I understand why they do it
To elaborate on this, my parents generation dealt with plants closing and strikes and safety issues at the places that paid well. They wanted their kids to avoid the same struggles they went through. My generation has realized that no one is safe, which is why the youngest in the workforce don't give a damn about anything. Their lack of loyalty and general apathy is completely justified in my opinion. The longer you work at the average company, the worse your income is relative to new hires because some bean counters figured out a long time ago that some people just won't change jobs because it's a pain in the ass and they never give appropriate merit and cost of living raises. -

@lethn @fknretardlol @The_Almighty_Kek @sickburnbro What you're saying is good advice, but it bucks convention. The same older generation that doesn't understand why people would change companies every three years doesn't understand that there aren't as many jobs around that want people of a certain lifestyle and social class. It used to be that the manager of a company was expectes to drive a nicer car and people would take "dress for the job you want not the job you have" and extrapolate it to all areas of their personal life, to the point where the number of people who are in debt beyond reasonable levels is staggering. No joke that's exactly what I do and I'm a mortgage free home owner LOL. If I can get myself to Japan I might marginally smarten myself up so the Japanese don't freak out about me.
The main point is, if you're not riddled with debt or completely debt free you're generally doing a hundred times better than most people. It's a bit like how if you're not a fatty and do weight lifting on the regular you're better than a significant chunk of the population in most countries. -

Even if you succeeded and did quite well for yourself there are tons of degree holders who don't have jobs or are trapped in minimum wage work. I opted out of university as well because I did the maths.
When it comes to the middle class champagne socialists, again, doing the maths on them. You realise these are people barely able to afford shit and screeeing on social media. They get themselves further and further into debt to maintain a lifestyle they can't afford for the sake of appearances and will take the piss out of people who don't dress like they do and come from a different background.
It's quite funny because like western women when they're dating who are usually from the same background they don't understand that people who have actual wealth, cash in the bank or assets are low key as fuck about it. The reason being is because they understand showing off wealth makes you a target.
Seeing that there are people who are buying holidays on credit is pretty disturbing to me, I don't do anything like that shit.
Edit: It's worth pointing out, don't ever compare your lifestyle to those sorts of retards. I've been fascinated digging into the finances of youtubers etc. who make it big but they immediately get themselves into a hole among other things because they're trying to maintain the rich lifestyle.
Absolute ghetto trash the lot of them, they don't know anything about managing finances so even when they get their big break they sabotage themselves. -

The peer pressure is intense, but it is one of those things where you've got to throw that out the window for the sake of self-preservation and it looks like most people haven't. A tradesmen I worked with on my house awhile ago chatted to me about this and he and I clearly had the same mentality and he was simply asking "I don't understand how they can afford any of it" and of course I responded that they can't.
I view bankers selling cheap credit on the same level as drug dealers. -

@BowsacNoodle @The_Almighty_Kek @sickburnbro Served with a prior enlisted guy who had a degree in golf management from univeristy of Phoenix that the Navy paid for, chose it because it was the easiest thing he was interested enough in to actually complete and he just needed any degree for his OCS package. phenomenal officer.
