To elaborate on this, my parents generation dealt with plants closing and strikes and safety issues at the places that paid well. They wanted their kids to avoid the same struggles they went through. My generation has realized that no one is safe, which is why the youngest in the workforce don't give a damn about anything. Their lack of loyalty and general apathy is completely justified in my opinion. The longer you work at the average company, the worse your income is relative to new hires because some bean counters figured out a long time ago that some people just won't change jobs because it's a pain in the ass and they never give appropriate merit and cost of living raises.
