    Today in "Oh my word, fuck you":

    Oh my word, fuck you HP

    EDIT: They have already rescinded the policy, lol. See first comment.

    'HP Inc is trying to force consumer PC and print customers to use online and other digital support channels by setting a minimum 15-minute wait time for anyone that phones the call center to get answers to troublesome queries.'

      HP adds 15 minutes waiting time for telephone support calls
      Longer wait time designed to push print or PC consumers to digital support channels, sorry, 'self-solve'

      @ai6yr @researchbuzz They bought Compaq. I was in R&D there. Do you know how big the R&D team was? Well, we had a VP, a manager, 2 EE's, and me, the firmware guru. I think the 5 of us did more good work than HP has done since the acquisition of Compaq. It's just awful what has become of them.

      Not that Compaq was a gem. I could go into excruciating detail on that point. But HP makes them look like diam... well, maybe opals.

      @researchbuzz So, what people don't realize is that "HP" is no longer HP anymore. It is now run by some kind of metastasized parasitic organism that has only one goal, which is to extract as much money as possible out of its "customers" who don't realize it's become a giant parasite, thinking it's a "trusted brand" (which it once was). Sad to see it. Never buy anything from that company, NEVER.

      Apparently they have ALREADY rescinded the policy due to "feedback" -- yeah I bet

      @ai6yr @researchbuzz A small correction - one of the engineers was also a firmware engineer. That was an excellent team cut short by a new VP with ideas.

      @nikatjef @marcotietz @ai6yr @researchbuzz It was a team effort to sync Microsoft with Compaq. We had meetings where we went over the negotiations for accommodations for Compaq hardware over Windows releases. I can imagine that breaking down quite easily, if the wrong people are let go.

      @steter @ai6yr @Researchbuzz the iPaqs turned from fantastic to crap so quickly once HP got their hands on em. I was with HP at the time. It was sad to see

      @marcotietz
      I was working at a small mom & pop computer shop at the time. We sold a lot of Compaqs until the acquisition. Suddenly we were unable to get preferred technical support, had difficulty fulfilling large orders (50+ machines), and it was nearly impossible to get any OEM software that was supposed to ship with the machines.
