  @j @p not if he's eating and drinking normally, lethargy is common if there is a mild infection but if he's refusing to do anything, eating less or especially not drinking i would be concerned. he'll be fine til monday based on your description

  I just noticed cornbread appears to have an injury on his leg. Also squishing the place where his paw connects to his leg (I don't think that's technically the ankle) seems to be a little tender and swollen. This sore is a little further up. It doesn't look all that bad. However I'm worried it might be a snake bite. It may also be an infection or possibly both.
  
  Does anybody know? Should I just ride out the weekend and decide if he needs to go to the vet on Monday? It's currently raining so taking him to the vet now would require carrying him for about a mile in the rain. Doable but I'd rather avoid it unless necessary for both our sakes.
  
  His foot is definitely swollen tho.

  @j @p @graf If you do that, try to keep it covered or prevent him from licking it. Polymyxin B (one of the antibiotics in Neosporin) is very toxic to kidneys and ears and cats are so small it wouldn't take much to hurt them. It's obviously a small area, so maybe iodine or saline wash and regular petroleum jelly if you can't cover it. Growing up we used peroxide for puncture wounds, but that's not recommended due to tissue damage. If it seems infected, it might be worth peroxide rinse either way, but I'm no vet.

  @j @p @graf Bacitracin might be a safer alternative and it's one of the antibiotics in Neosporin anyway. Cats lick their wounds, so I think your best bet is to try to clean it and cover with something benign, such as petroleum jelly, or possibly shave the area and use a bandage (kitty will hate this 😞).

The vet is closed but I caught the guy who stayed there overnight just as he was leaving and he gave me a thing of amoxicillin and told me to come back Monday and tell the ladies at the desk what I did and they'd tell me what I owe.

He was very not happy about it and I know it tasted terrible so I gave him some treats to help get the taste out of his mouth plus I figure it'd be best to take an antibiotic with food.

Boiling water doesn't necessarily remove things like chlorine, fluoride, etc. Distilled water is just water. This is for medication not drinking.

  I'm not sure 🤔 I think in theory it's fine to drink distilled water as it's just water. But it's missing some of the important minerals that give it its thirst quenching palatability. I'd rather drink Seattle tap water which is probably among the best in the nation, well, it used to be at least back in the 90s. I've had some crap tap water in places like San Diego, Texas, SC and Florida. Has too soft of a mouth feel and annoyingly stale taste. Glacier water is where it's at 🤤

You can get a TDS meter and verify, but extended storage in plastic in a cellar or closet is fine and certainly beats dehydration in a bad situation. Expected TDS is 0-1 ppm vs 0 to 0.5 for properly washed and sterilized glass (hard to do at home). The main thing you'll get in distilled water in an HDPE jug is a trace amount of plasticizers (not good) but we're talking less than 1 PPM and that's less exposure from a whole gallon than being around plastic or foam passively for a day. 0.003785g on the high end.

Cornbread just got his first dose (a whole pipette (looks to be 1ml) mixed with a tube of cat go-gurt and he ate over half) about 5 minutes ago. I'll be keeping an eye on him. I don't expect anything out of the norm. I hope it helps. I suppose we shall see. He probably got about 2mg of THC and CBN.

  I wanted one with CBD but all of those has peppermint in them and I knew Cornbread would hate that. At least the CBN will help him rest.
  
  He's resting right now so I don't want to disturb him but I'll give him some the next time he gets up or when it's time for his nighttime medicine. Whichever comes first. Hopefully this will help him with his pain.

  I think I'll start with a dose of half a dropper (about 1.8mg of THC and CBN) and go from there. That case study is about treating chronic pain whereas Cornbread is dealing with accurate pain so maybe a slightly higher dose like ¾ or even a whole dropper full would be better for him.
  
  On second thought I think I'll start with a whole dropper full. He's in a lot of pain a some sedation wouldn't be bad for him.

He was very unhappy about it. He got some chicken cat go-gurt afterwards to get the taste out.
  
  I sure hope that he's doing noticably better tomorrow after the antibiotics have had about a day to work.
  
  I really hate seeing Cornbread in pain and don't enjoy making him taste stuff that I know tastes awful.

His limp is noticeably less. He was throwing a fit because he wanted to go outside. He's definitely getting some energy back.
  
  I'm excited to see how he's doing tomorrow morning.

He's feeling much better now and his limp is almost gone. He does still keep his back right foot raised when he sits down so it's not completely better yet. However, he's currently whining to go outside.
  
  I gave him his morning medicine and then to make up for it I gave him some cat go-gurt and then I gave him breakfast.
  
  The antibiotic is definitely working. Cornbread is starting to act like his regular self.

  Cornbread is making up for lost time. So far he's sprayed 3 cars, 3 bushes, and a grill. He's not running around yet but he's definitely happy to get some outside time and he's definitely feeling much better.

  continue the full course of antibiotics as recommended on the label. it takes several days (up to a week) to kill an infection provided that the amoxicillin targets whatever pathogen he may have. it's a broad-spectrum so it should be fine.
  what you're seeing right now is antibiotic's anti-inflammation effect versus a full eradication of the infection.
  glad he's doing better. tell him we miss his meatloaf
